Changing a Reward Flight

I booked a Rewards flight to LAX from Canberra via Sydney, I'm wondering if anyone knows how hard it will be to change it to Sydney to LAX instead?

I've just noticed on our return journey it will be School holidays and flights into Canberra are insane. We live 3 hours from Canberra but 5.5 hours from Sydney - I'd rather drive the extra 2.5 hours and save myself over $1K

Your question doesn't quite make sense, on my reading, anyway. But you can change or cancel a points reward flight, of course. But is there reward availability for what you want to do?

Instead of flying out of Canberra I want to change it to Sydney.

The flight was Canberra-Sydney-Los Angeles
I just want to make it Sydney-Los Angeles

You won't be able to with the current booking, there will need to be SYD-LAX rewards availability (I have presumed you've booked a one way points flight?)

If you dont change the international flight date and schedule, it should be possible to just drop the domestic leg cbr-syd of your award booking, via a call to the call center. Since I presume its a qantas flight, there is little risk of re ticket issue.

Not too sure I understand your reasoning to want to drop cbr-syd as you live closer to canberra than sydney, not sure where the 1k savings come into play, so I am probably missing something.

Edit: as mentioned just below, it's the VA forum, my answer is not good

I'd give them a call -- you're Velocity Gold (according to your profile) and in my experience the call centre staff are competent and able to help you if the system lets them. They also may waive the $60 change fee if you ask nicely.
