Changing date of first sector in a 2x flight Reward itinerary?

@TahoeSkier if you would like to go down this path you are going to have to call QF, they only need to domestic flight and this should not be difficult. As you are on QF metal they should mess with the International seat. If you are thinking about flying the day before have you considered separating into 2 bookings, you will use a few more points and all you need to ask QF is remove your existing domestic flight and leave the international flight as is.
I've been trying for days to change the domestic flight on a similar booking (MEL-SYD-LAX) and not a single agent I've encountered has been able to do it. It should be simple, the inventory is there, but they are completely incapable.

Which CC do you get connected to. I will admit have not followed the SA, Fiji and to a lesser extent AKL issues people report. Changing the domestic leg is not difficult the and the local QF teams seem to be able to get the ticket reissued within 5-10 minutes.

SA every time, whether 7am, midday or later in the afternoon.
 
HUACA until you get HBA. It can easily be done.

I've had complex multi sector awards changes, but every time I got Fiji I would HUACA.

I can only imagine the frustration of getting through to agents that do not know either what to do or how to do things. Adding, removing or changing flights is not that difficult I used to make such changes pre covid, during covid and last week. I once thought that getting the free WP status for MrsM was the best reason to retain my status, now I am thinking the ability to get through to competent staff is of greater importance.

A bit off topic, when I ring to change bookings the staff normally ask if I am happy for a call back once the ticket has been reissued or to stay on hold while the ticket is reissued. If it is QF only booking I am happy to be called back, if changing a booking that includes QR, MH, EK and to a lesser extent JL I will remain on hold until I receive the new e-ticket. In the past I have lost flights with QR, EK and JL however QF has always got them back not sure how they did this but it must be possible.
