Hi, can someone do me a favour please!

This is for an award redemption from New York to Montreal one-way, using QF points. I would like to know how much I need to pay in extra charges.

Unfortunately I do not have enough QF points at present, so I could not see how much charges I would be up for!

Thanks.

JFK-YUL 8,000 points + US$2.50
LGA-YUL 8,000 points + US$2.50

wow!.... really?!? really, really?? $2.50 US per ticket!

That's just amazing!

Thanks.

Qantas generally do not charge Fuel fines for domestic US travel unless the US airlines do for a segment.

When I flew JFK-YUL it was on an American Eagle regional jet. Very short flight, quite cramped. And not very expensive. I wouldn't waste my points on something like that...

IN a similar vein,

SYD-LAX on QF Direct using classic - 48000 + A$225
on QF via MEL using classic - 48000 + A$224
on FJ via NAD using classic - 48000 + A$271
on QF using AnySeat - 187647 pts

SYD - HNL on JQ paid - $199 plus $130 fees = $330
HNL - LAX on AA QF Award - 25000 + US$2.50
so 25000 points plus $335

So costs about $100 to save 23000 points, and more availability on the JQ/AA combination

The flights are just over A$200 per person. I am thinking that 8000 points for $200 is not too bad a deal?

One other alternative would be taking the train, but 11+ hours just seem too long, esp when we don't have that much time over there.

One alternative that is frequently overlooked is the One World visit north america fares. Having said that it may not be appropriate in your situation.

1. Resident outside of NA
2. Arriving into NA on a OW flight and the first visit pass flights is within 21 days of arrival
3. Minimum of 2, maximum of 10 coupons
4. Books into S class on AA cost is by mileage categories.

The JFK-YUL segment at 333 miles is $140US but you would need a second one (to somewhere). Taxes are minimal. It would seem that direct Eagle lights are good candidates. The direct BNA-DCA flight was a lot cheaper using the pass.

The current one world page also comments that the QF JFK-LAX flights are applicable if arriving into the USA on QF.......

Enjoy

Fred

Thanks, but I am only looking for that one flight on this occasion.
