Dammit. Cruise ended. Now in Roma.

Re: Chasing the lads in Lycra down the Champs Elysees - and other fancy places to exp

All good things come to an end - like chocolate and a bottle of gin :)
Rome is very pleasant though. How's the weather now? Still hot?

Very nice boutique hotel near Spanish Steps. 120 euro a night inc Bfast. Even flowers on arrival.

Finally uploaded the Tour de France video of a pass by neat Tuilleries.

Did they lift the code red on the cruise?

Re: Chasing the lads in Lycra down the Champs Elysees - and other fancy places to exp

Yes - lifted after five days. By the end of the cruise they weren't even manning the squirt stations. I guess they figured that if we got sick it wouldn't occur until we were all off. They were only concerned it had gone by the time the charter started.

98% of the crew were fabulous. Crew in Blu were fantastic. A couple of the female crew in cafe bacio were outright rude and offensive. Not being racist but with no exception they were from the former soviet bloc countries. If they didn't understand what you asked for they simply said "What". Even the other staff would raise eyebrows. One nice older lady asked another question and slinked away because of their rude response. They are very abrupt and offer no service. They let the rest down.

We wanted to book another cruise onboard. You have free wifi only for celebrity website and I could see the one I wanted. Went downstairs to book as there were reduced deposits. The guy in future sales said it didn't exist. For around 10 minutes we went back and forth. He said the website was wrong. He tried to convince me I should do another cruise in which we would have embarked on my birthday. The celebration of which was the purpose of the cruise. Anyone who has sailed on a cruise knows that this is not the way/day to embark. Finally his English manager came over to see what the issue was with me. I wasn't getting cross, more bemused as I knew I could book it online anyway.
Of course he was doing something wrong and within seconds he could see it. I was in a good mood and made him feel a hero by finally finding it but seriously, Celebrity needs to give a couple of their front line crew a personality change.

I have many great pix on my waterproof and large camera so will update when we get back Weds onwards. Last updates will be today as we start our flight from Rome to Sin tomorrow on SQ J. Then 12 hours in Sin then SQ direct to Adelaide. Have booked a day room at Crowne Plaza.

Don't rush - the weather is foul here :(

Re: Chasing the lads in Lycra down the Champs Elysees - and other fancy places to exp

Coming home so soon.....wah, all over bar the shouting. But then of course you do have more trips to plan :)

And you are off soon - so exciting for you.
Huge thunderstorm in Rome this am. We would never walk in a lightening storm back home but there we were, standing in it in the middle of Rome. Stupid tourists.

Trevi Fountain. Sob.

As if..

But no fountain did mean you pay more attention to the beautiful facade.

Re: Chasing the lads in Lycra down the Champs Elysees - and other fancy places to exp

It's funny but I actually prefer the fountains in Piazza Navona - perhaps less spectacular facade but more my idea of what fountains are. Certainly less people which is a plus. But then again nowhere to throw a coin to ensure you will return to Rome! They have been working on the Trevi fountain for ages, surprised works are not completed yet. Any idea when they should be finished?

Re: Chasing the lads in Lycra down the Champs Elysees - and other fancy places to exp

No idea Dame. Not exactly sure what they are currently doing. Dammit. Start the long haul home today. FCO apparently a mess and the SQ lounge here awful. At least the 12 hour flight is in J. Then the layover.

Re: Chasing the lads in Lycra down the Champs Elysees - and other fancy places to exp

looking forward to your opinion of SQ - have a safe flight.

Re: Chasing the lads in Lycra down the Champs Elysees - and other fancy places to exp

Any time I've been through FCO it's been an absolute bun fight. Last time the "VIP lounge" as it was so inaccurately labelled had no coffee, no food except for some defrosted/refrozen ice creams, no tissues in the bathrooms, wall to wall tub chairs, think it did have beer though :)

Enjoy the flight and layover in SIN. Are you on SQ, I seem to have forgotten (it's the senior Dame kicking in here)

Funny, I edited my post to say that FM had answered my question, but I couldn't get the edit to stick - weird.

Re: Chasing the lads in Lycra down the Champs Elysees - and other fancy places to exp

Mmmm. Not quite Sydney F here. But pleasant enough. And unlike Sydney they have trains to gates. Left our Hotel at 8.20 and into the lounge by 9.30. Must be a record from the city. They have no immigration/security priority queue but it was fast enough as it only does a few airlines at each security point. Terminal 3 looks like it is finished.
