Today I noticed (and booked) some exceptionally well priced flights from JNB to MEL (via DOH) with Qatar for late January 2024. The cheaper business class flights were the equivalent of around $2700 AUD per person. Although I haven't delved into the exact applicable dates or destinations, I did a quick look on Skyscanner and there were flights to most Australian ports (with the notable exception of SYD) for around the same price. Flights included QSuites on the long leg home to MEL.

$2700 one way?
Yes. But that's for business class in the Q-Suites product. My personal opinion is that is an exceptional price. The nearest other business class flight out of JNB is Singapore Airlines for around $3500 (one way) and Emirates would set you back $4500 (one way)

It is a good price. I’m seeing some for $2.7k on SQ towards the end of the schedule. Much shorter trip time too.

Yes SQ was over $3000, magically coming down now. And some Cathay prices are now similar to Qatar, which they certainly were not even a few days ago. But of course only QR has the Qatar suites which I will now be able to try for the first time for the DOH-MEL leg of the booking.
