Cheap J flights to Europe on MH

I cross posted this on other forum about sharing cheap air fares but it may provide additional info to those interested in AY. the booking agent with whom I discussed this option seemed surprised that it was so cheap.
If considering going to Europe and have no FF points you might want to consider this combination.
I found this combined Y to BKK on Royal Brunei (about $777)or Malaysian airlines at the moment, ( from $702): have to stop over and then next morning, 08.55, fly J with Finnair direct to Helsinki and then onto city of choice with their Flybe .
This requires a stop over in BKK. I found "The Cottage" hotel clean, convenient and reasonable at $40 a night . They also offer transport to and from Airport as part of their tariff. Only a 5-10 min ride away.

This Finnair J fare costs $2500 approx and includes onward flight to anywhere they service in Europe. You can use multi city option. I think that is quite a reasonable combination fare. About AU$3300 all up. ( ie MEL - BKK In Y and BKK to Europe return in J)

It would cost about an extra $600 to fly Brunei afternoon - night flight back to MEL in J - I wouldn't bother as you arrive back home at about 2 a.m. BKK time and have plenty of time to grab a few hours sleep. (Unless you decide you want to stop over at the Radisson in Bandar Seri Begawan by catching the 20.00 flight from BKK on a Wednesday. You arrive back in MEL early on Friday morning)

You can also fly Y BKK to Europe as it is a day flight and then J ( direct night flight) Europe to BKK which decreases cost even more. J class has one single row of seats by the window.
They have a special on now but think it is only for Y, the cheap J tickets apply only for Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday flights but think that applies all year.

You arrive back in BKK early in morning so can connect back to Melbourne on several afternoon flights, Royal Brunei and Malaysian Air. Be aware when choosing fares to go direct to and fro BKK to HEL not via Hong Kong which takes longer and costs more. Also beware that some Royal Brunei flights from BKK to MEL involve overnight stop over with hotel provided.
QF FF users can use the points accrued. I was looking at July August dates 2014. JoyV

Most would probably just take the $3500 J Deal with MH to CDG.

Markis. Just checked on Malaysian airlines and it was 5500. Can you tell me how it Works? Please. Have no FF points. Think I did see a post which talked about signing up for Enrich program and using 1K points as newbie as bonus. Thanks JoyV

Its cash and points using Enrich, you get 1K on joining which is all you need.

Thanks for that info. I would still do AY because of ability to fly to Hamburg and home from DUS and allows me to catch up with friends in BKK. Also has flat beds and one row of single seats which is my preference.IF I were going to Paris there would be no question! My guess is that FRA would be same price too as they were both $5500 on web site. so a great price.
