I'm stuck with a dilemma.
I have 15,740 points earned mainly through work hotel stays. Due to some changes, I will not be staying at any Accor properties for work and unlikely for leisure. I planned on transferring these points to QFF and you need a minimum 4,000 points with transfers in 4,000 point increments. Transfer rate is 1:1 AFAIK.

To get to the 16k level, I need 260 points. Paying for these points is essentially paying for 4,000 QFF points. If you value them at 1.5c/point that is $60 worth.
If 5c/point that is $200 worth etc.

My platinum status expires at the end of November and am thinking of a hotel stay to get me over the edge.. are there any cheaper ways to get points? or am I out of my mind because this small amount of points isn't worth it (yes I know people value them at different rates to others).

Any help is appreciated.

Sorry I cannot help you with Accor but I think any amount of points is significant and try to maximise their use.

e.g I have 880 KrisFlyer miles expiring in January and unlikely to earn anymore between now and then. Now why not transfer over 46,000 Amex MR points and redeem a one-way business class BKK-SIN-BNE?

I've heard that if you set up an automatic earn for airline miles that amounts under the minimum will e transferred in the monthly "sweep"

The article is on the loyalty lobby website, I just can't remember where

I think a hotel stay is in order.

Id just spend a night this weekend in a hotel - I put my sisters up in the Mercure Welcome Melbourne for a night to get them off my couch at about $105- and yeilded 135 points, plus an extra 100 on gold. You would prob get over the line if you have platinum, but would be a shame to miss out by 1 or 2 points.

I think you get points for restaurant spend too so that might help get.you over the line.

If not don't worry links come up for instant qccor plat a lot :-)

I'm also speaking with the COO for Accor pacific at the moment. I'll bring the Qantas points issue up with him and let this thread know if I get any traction. I too am in the same boat with just shy of transferring my points in my gold Accor and won't book with my platinum till I hit the 4000.

Car hire with europcar gets 250 points. Just google the microsite. That's 10points short!

Re QF points, better move quickly. They are being devalued... Going to 5:4 rather than 1:1.

Suggest you transfer 12000 now while you can. I was in a similar position with 11648 points. Moved 8000 a week ago. Think I'll end up transfering th rest with the auto transfer trick as the earlier post says. Unfortunately, QF can't be one of these auto transfer options.

Wow, thanks.
Just looked at the link and it says 5:4, however the T&Cs still say 1:1. Doesn't say the date that it will change, but thanks for the heads up.

Just realised that I most likely will have an Accor hotel stay later this year and probably a Europcar hire as well.. that may get me over the line.

Just transferred 12k Le Club points and the transfer screen said 12k QFF, the confirmation email said 12k QFF points - phew!

What program are you going to transfer using the auto transfer trick, if not QFF?

Yep, I got in like you at 1:1. Points haven't posted yet.
As for the orphaned points, Not sure yet. I've got no need to push them anywhere else, but going to transfer to somewhere that is possible to line up with possible other earning opportunities or other future travels and possible redemptions and conversions through to other programs. Eg I can go to Asia miles, then to USDM (and lose half in the process). Or collect avios and use on qf. Or Singapore and add other points from amex MR. But no solution yet.

Points have posted 2 days ago - got the 12k.

Looks like I have a potential Mercure stay in Dec with probable car hire as well. I've qualified for Gold once the Plat expires, so if that gets me a 75% bonus then I'd need 149 base hotel points (75 per night if going for 2 nights, which is quite likely).
If that's the case, I might credit car hire direct to QFF and only aim for the 4k and leave it at that..

So I didn't end up needing a hotel stay and credited a Europcar rental (250 points).
Leaves me with 3990 points!!
How do I get that extra 10, given that I won't be staying in an Accor property, nor needing car rental in the foreseeable future?

Yes, but in the link from the last page (that now redirects to the updated website and subsequently the same one I posted) did say it was changing to 5:4 for QFF at the time. Whether that was an oversight or it has changed back, who knows, but for now it is 1:1 for QFF.

I will have an Accor hotel stay in September but would like those points sooner rather than later :(

...
I saw the same thing, but did not have enough anyway.

Looks like it's all been straitened out.
