Check in CSA with AFF knowledge

The OP never indicated that the CSA was an AFF member. It could be anyone - even a non-AFFer. The OP wasn't asking us to 'out' the person in question - rather just share an experience that made them smile.

Well, I was the original poster and if I can't post about an excellent check-in experience from a classy and professional Qantas staffer then we really have a problem...

To be fair, there was nothing wrong with your compliment. Thank you for sharing it - stories of staff who do a good job are far and few between on this forum!

Most of the rest of the thread is technically a waste of space.

There was nothing wrong with paying someone a compliment for being classy and professional. But allowing someone to put 2 and 2 by mentioning they post on AFF and mentioning Any Seat Awards etc was not the right thing to do in my opinion.

Most of us have known this person for a number of years now and have tried to protect their identity as they are not an official Qantas representative. Well not that I know of anyway. Perhaps I am wrong....

Be careful with pin pointing the person guys! QF aint too happy with some people participating in this forum :)

Why?? Transparency & actually listening to customers & potential customers is usually akin to developing better products & services..

Or alternatively in a business that does not subscribe to customer care it might lead to persecution of its staff that don't blindly follow its rules. I'm not saying that QF is like that, I don't know whether the culture is like that, I think proceed with care is the motto in this case.

The OP didn't say whether or not this person posts on AFF. In fact, it doesn't even seem like the person told the OP whether or not they use AFF themselves - just that it was a good resource. Everyone else drew that conclusion on their own.

That's right, the staffer didn't tell me they posted on AFF, they just asked me if I had heard of AFF and that it was a good resource for info on JASA's etc. Apart from that I found her to be probably the friendliest and most professional Qantas staffer I have personally met. And if she can make that impression in 2-3 minutes then she is an asset that Qantas should champion.

I don't disagree with anything that you have said, and it is good feedback.

The issue was with people that were pointing to who the CSA may have been. If that person wants to identify themselves here, that is all well and good. However, the posts that pointed the way to a particular person, were, IMHO, inappropriate. I say this as someone that has certainly been asked to edit a post that pointed to a particular person working for Qantas before.

I did mention in my second post a general description of the CSA to benefit those of you who thought they knew/did know who the person was. This mightn't have been such a great idea so mods, feel free to edit out the generalised description. I do however think CSA's who take an interest in their work to the point of knowing about AFF/Flyertalk/etc and things like JASAs and status runs should get a big hearty pat-on-the-back from Qantas rather than be worried about staying secretive. What do you think?

Yes, I think it is fantastic :) I usually end up chatting to the FA's on my flights and the conversation often turns to AFF/FT etc. Many of them are very well clued up on the Frequent Flyer side of things.
Thankyou for reporting your positive experience
