Public service announcement:
Reminder about Lifemiles award bookings. You need to regularly check your bookings or have Tripit Pro or Expert Flyer to alert you. Was reading about SAS cancelling 1700 flights in Sep and Nov. Checked my Kef to Cph award booking on SAS booked with LM. Sure enough our flights were cancelled ? when with no notification from LM, and SAS rebooked us Kef-Osl-Cph but needs to be reticketed. Have just fired off an email to LM to reticket...hope that's enough and I don't have to ring them.

Being the anxious person and not getting an email reply, I rang LM in US this evening...got answered pretty quickly (take note Qf) but I was told I had to move the flight to the following day where there is a direct flight....we have car hire. hotels etc already booked so preferred to fly on same day even though it was now a connecting indirect flight...I was told it was not allowed even though SAS had cancelled the flight and had rebooked us on the indirect flight...after a bit of a polite argument, she put me through to another section where the agent only spoke Spanish :(

...so I HUACA and got answered by a confident sounding man who said no problem if I wanted to fly on the same day and take the indirect flight via Osl from Kef to Cph. Whilst still on the phone I got the new e tickets in my inbox....moral...agents have different levels of training so sometimes it is best to HUACA! ;)

Lifemiles may not be the easiest system to deal with but we have usually/eventually ended up fine when re-ticketing has been required

Apart from the abysmal availability… the rest of LM is usually pretty competent and ok to deal with :)

I never thought I’d say this, but it seems Lifemiles has better customer service than Qantas.
