I'm flying BNE-SYD at sparrows tomorrow morning. Tomorrow night I'm on a separate PNR traveling SYD-MEL. I'll have a small bag with carry on that contains everything I need for my day in Sydney. I also have a larger bag which I require for Melbourne which will need to be checked.

What are my chances of:

a) Being able to check my bag all the way thru when I arrive in BNE?

b) Failing that, checking bag in for BNE-SYD leg, collecting it in SYD and then immediatley checking it in prior to leaving SYD airport for my day in Sydney?

I'm not asking for it to travel unaccompanied. I just want it out of my hair all day tomorrow. More than happy for it to be on the same two flights as me, I would prefer not to have to lug it to a days worth of meetings in Sydney if it can await my return to SYD airport.

As you are Velocity Platinum I am assuming you query relates to Virgin? If so I have previously checked baggage at 7.10am for a late afternoon flight several times in Melbourne. You should be fine!

Velocity Plat traveling J. Good to know...

Sorry just realized I should have been more specific..... You will need to check both pieces to Sydney, claim them both, then go upstairs and check in the Melbourne bag .

As the bag needed in Sydney is carry on size I don't think the OP needs to check both bags in BNE.

Sent from the Throne

Update: so I checked in my bag at BNE but could only send it as as far as SYD. Collected both BPs in BNE. Upon arrival in SYD, picked up my bag off the carousel (it was there before I was, Priority Baggage Win!) and immediately took it upstairs and bag dropped. They were more than happy to accept it despite my flight not being for another 12 hours.

Good outcome.
