Hi fellow AFFers. I’ve searched here and on the google machine and can’t find recent experiences. I have paid J MEL to PER and separate PER to XCH in Y (aircraft only has Y). Officially, VA website says that I need to collect bags and recheck them in PER. Any chance of the J checkin staff tag all the way?

I still don’t understand why VA don’t do mixed fare bookings…..

If I remember correctly XCH departs from the international side of T1 so that may complicate things... Very few pax would make a DOM-INT connection in PER at the present time, certainly very very few VA-VA connections.

When I did this trip a few years ago, Syd- Per followed by Per - Xch on separate tickets, I had to collect bags in Per and recheck in. They wouldn't / couldn't check it all the way from Syd.

Thanks for the comments. I’ve done this trip a few times and usually stay the prior night near Perth airport. It’s frustrating that this itinerary Can’t be booked on a single ticket. J/Y
