Hi All,
Hope an experienced UA flyer can advise. I am traveling LAX to MEL in Business. This has an allowance of 3 checked bags.

But, I am connecting to this flight from another United sector: Aspen-LAX, on a separate PNR. On this sector, my fare is Economy, with no free checked bags.

Will I be charged bag fees as the Aspen-LAX sector?

This is a case of YMMV and they may do as you hope and not charge; it can really depend on the agent checking you in.

However, the airline has every right to do so - so expect to be charged.

Spoke to United

I rang United and spoke to an agent who advised that I should show the LAX-MEL booking PNR and they'll check the bags through without charge if it is within the LAX-MEL baggage allowance limit.

I'll report back if this happens or not.
