KitKat - have loved your TR and photos ! I never could try a wasabi Kit Kat though  With all our trips to Japan we have NEVER been in blossom time

I have told drron if he doesn't take me to Japan in cherry blossom time next year .... he is in deep doo doo

She's won.Booking a small ship Cherry Blossom cruise around Japan next April.

Excellent TR!
Looking to try a Michelin starred place for lunch in Tokyo on a weekday (the only time I have) - unfortunate that Tapas Molecular Bar only has lunch available on a weekend and Ryugin is only open for dinner.

Did a search and this place, Esaki, seems to get good feedback but only open for lunch on Sat.
three stars Japanese Restaurant "Esaki" in Shibuya-ku, Tokyo | MICHELIN GUIDE digital

Are you going to any fine/"nicer" dining spots for lunch?
only Narisawa, and Ishikawa

IMHO Best way to eat potato is mashed (butter with a hint of potato) or french fries cooked in duck fat YMMV

Both of those are good, but my new fave is a smashed jacket potato with butter AND truffle oil

Continuation of Tapas Molecular Bar...

Did you enjoy your dinner at Ryugin? The gentleman and I went their last week and really enjoyed it.

Yep but not as good as the first time.... first time bias I guess (Ryugin review earlier in TR)

Perhaps I like the autumn menu more..

Somen on a seaweed broth gel being heated - the gel melts as it is heated
You then slurp this in one go... dish inspired by the small bit of noodle left in a noodle bowl at the end of a meal
Surprisingly very tasty

In summary, an enjoyable and fun afternoon for all.
Tasty, some hits and misses but glad we went

The damage
JPY15000 per person + 13% service charge + 8% consumption tax
excluding drinks

Would we return? Yes - just a fun time, the menu changes every 4 months..

Done with dinner, I went to the bathroom.. seems there is a view from there
(everyone was taking a picture...including the locals..)

After a while, felt it was time to go back and rest..
