Hi all, I have encountered a bit of a strange situation with pooling SCs from my four year old son. We have taken a few flights recently where myself and Mrs OzEire and our son (4 yrs old) were all booked on the same flight, same booking, same fare bucket, etc. but only the adults earned status credits. Mrs OzEire's SCs pooled to me but not my son's. Nothing special or unusual about these flights - they were regular VA ticketed and operated fares.

Upon checking his account I noted the following message in the activity statement for several flights (slightly different destinations, flight numbers, etc. but same message):

Hobart-Melbourne (Not Valid For Earn) 0 Points and 0 Status Credits Pooled to Velocity Member xx_XX VA1323

Not a major deal as he only flies VA about 6-8 times per year and I can usually live without the 100 or so SCs, but I just wondered why this is happening? As far as I knew a child fare (100% of the cost of an Adult Fare) is eligible for full SC right ? I thought that it was only an infant (under 2) in lap (ie. no seat) which earned no SC, essentially because the fare component is zero (taxes only).

I have pooled from my 5 year old cousin before and the points credited same time as mine, I would call VA as children are eligible for SCs.

Something does not add up ... call Velocity as they should earn if in the same booking etc as the parents

I have pooled SCs from my 4 year old multiple times with no issues, always on the same booking. Definitely something amiss here & worth chasing up.

I also pooled points from my 2yo son and 4yo daughter. These were Etihad flights booked with VA flight numbers though. It took a while for them to come through by a few follow up calls sorted it out.

There are no eligibility requirements related to age in the t&c's.

They do indicate those members under 15 need to have an "authorised representative".

In fact this from the t&c's is the only caveat I can find, which in it's own way points to a child under 2 who travels in their own paid seat is not not eligible.

...
10.3 Points for Infant travel

10.3.1 Members under the age of 2 years who do not travel in their own paid seat on a Virgin Australia or Airline Partner flight will not be entitled to earn any Points

Same here, I have pooled my child under 12 many times

have you contacted velocity in relation to this?

I plan to upon return from this trip (all of my records, PNRs etc are at home). The post here was to check I hadn't missed something so I can properly press VA on the issue.

Thanks all for the advice, I will report back on how it goes.
