Children in lounges?

Whilst I don’t object to kids being in lounges, it would be nice to see a kids area, where kids are able to play and run around, whilst parents ignore any disruptive behaviour, and the rest of us can relax and work.
Over recent weeks each time I’ve been in the VA lounge, there have been many large family groups, with some kids running about, using furniture as play gyms, and generally being quite disruptive. Starting to question whether there’s now better options out in the terminal.??

Ive not been into a virgin lounge but some Qantas loungers have kids areas / playrooms. I know CNS has a whole room.

Yep, CNS QF lounge is brilliant for kids. Shame it hasn’t caught on elsewhere

This isn’t of course anything to do with the kids… but the parents. 99% of family groups are well behaved and while a separate play area is a bonus, it’s not a necessity to ensure peace and quiet!

Would the last few weeks not be representative of the fact that it has been school holidays, and as such more family groups would have travelled during this period compared to term time? With WA term starting back tomorrow (not sure of other states sorry), would it not make sense to observe and see if things settle for the next 10 weeks or so.

So im currently sitting in the FJ Premier lounge at NAN in a quiet corner, chosen because it was well away from any kids, the loud drunken bogans and the dedicated kids room.

Put my drink on a table coffee table, start reading AFF and i look up when i hear a bang. The bogan's unattended 2yo, has wandered over spun the chair opposite, slamming it into table and spilling my drink. I yelled watch out, then asked who owns this child, lounge attendant cleans up the spill, removes the child (parent didnt want to claim them) and brings me a new drink.

Shortly thereafter i go to ladies to change into warmer clothes for the flight, come back and am rearranging my carry-on when bogun mum comes around the corner and demands to know if im leaving cause she wants the kids to have somewhere to run around! I told her no, im just setting in and that there is a dedicated some what noise proofed play room that is precisely for that purpose. She huffed off.

Daughter has had a tablet for around 4 years now and you can't drag her away from the tablet. She's well behaved in a lounge.

as someone who uses lounges with my young kids I wish there were kids areas in them. Sadly there isn't.
We usually just pop them with a tablet and get them as many snacks as they want and they are happy being near a window and looking at the planes coming and going.
I won't pretend my kids are the best behaved, but the quietness in there makes them realise that it is a quiet place, therefor they need to behave.
I would never allow jumping on furniture or running about, that is on the parents not the kids - kids are kids, it's up to the parents to set the boundaries.

There is a great kids area in the international Sydney airport when flying with Virgin a few years ago it was fabulous, I'm pretty sure it was the Emirates lounge? Could be wrong.

As long as reasonably quiet, bring them in as what better way to get them hooked on travel. It's great to see them in there staring out the windows looking at the planes, eyes as a big a saucers. (I've never seen a badly behaved child in a lounge other than screaming with enjoyment at the ground crew waving up at them)

There should be areas in lounges for adult children really. Had far more disturbances over the years from this species talking loudly on the phones, than I ever have from real children.
