Real nice China air A350, modern decor and excellent seat, food sloppy (didn't eat) and was served on a tray like Y, The Taiwan lounge had 50 steps down to long skinny room, food slops, was very noisey, we had one drink and left, so not impressed.
There are two China Air lounges. One is very ordinary. The other quite good. The ordinary one is closer to the gate usually used for flights to Australia. Sounds like you visited the ordinary one.

Was just about to post the same. Unfortunately it sounds like you visited the poor one.

Have friends want to go SYD/FCO/SYD I see fares here a tad over $4k return for their dates in J. so how do they book this to get QFF points?

Just scored myself J flights to Vienna for travel in Sep on CI for under $3700! Their sales are fantastic! This is unbeatable value. QF, on the other hand, want over $7000!! Computer says no...

I'm going to have to make use of these fares. Want to be in Europe over Christmas and New Year and it looks like I can get J fares for $3700! That's just incredible and even more so since the dates I want fall right over the peak school holiday period!!

Presumedly, fewer pax off to or via China. I’d ensure the TI includes cover for coronavirus.

China Airlines is Taiwanese not mainland Marxist Chinese. Are you by chance confusing it with the mainland's Air China?
Well yes I was, but I would still be wary in the region whilst this epidemic is in this exponential stage. There is a lot of passenger movement between China and Taiwan.

Wondering what you mean in the region?

If you mean you don't want to be anywhere within reach of frequent direct flights from China and 10's thousands travelling each way per week, then maybe head to parts of South America or Africa or Antarctica.

Off limits would be Asia, North America, Pacific, Europe, and Australia
