China Airlines reward seats using Qantas points

Have anyone tried to check through luggage for 2 separate tickets?
Assume I have 2 single ticket first MEL>TPE, and TPE>KIX with 3hrs gap time. Is it possible to check through my luggage at MEL counter?
Or I will have to pick up my luggage and check-in at their transfer desk in TPE?

Thanks

Can confirm, I've just been able to select my seat for an upcoming booking on the Qantas website
Hi. How far out was your flight when you were able to book seats via Qantas? Ive booked my business reward seats with China today for pretty much a year out and its telling me on my Qantas that seat selection is not available. Im wondering if it will be available closer to the time.

Just see the comment upthread about using the Czech Airlines website to achieve seat selection.

You need to read the comments in this thread to see how to select your seats. This isn't about using the Qantas website to book the seats!

I'm also wondering why in this thread you indicated that you've already booked your seats? Or was that for a different booking?

I just checked again, as I have the same issue. QF seat selection still unavailable for my June flight via the QF app/website. Czech Airlines website also still not allowing me to select a seat.

Perhaps you can clarify which class your booking is, and confirm it was a reward booking? I have a classic reward booked for September (in J) which I booked last September. Seats were available for me to select on the China Airlines site within 24 hours (and I could see seat selection on the Czech airlines site. Since then of course, as indicated upthread, seat selection has been made available for reward bookings directly in the manage my booking section of Qantas. I confirm I can see my current seat selections and have the option to change them if I want. So not sure what the issue is, but if your seats are not reward or not business, perhaps seat selection is not allowed?

Mine is a cash ticket and in economy. Perhaps they only offer seat selection for business. Or perhaps only for reward tickets.

A cash ticket booked as a codeshare? As far as I can see seat selection is available for economy passengers on China Airlines (for a fee), so it does seem surprising you cannot do so.

When I booked reward seats, seat selection did not become available for around 24 hours. If you have only booked today, perhaps try again tomorrow?

I have read the thread - this thread has given me 3 options to try and book seats for my China Airlines booking - The China Airlines App - tired that - doesn’t work, the Czech Airlines website - also tried that doesn’t work and then one of the last comments indicated that someone had managed to book their seats via Qantas - Ive tried that too and it doesn’t work.

The other thread you’ve found is for my China Eastern flights and I indicated on that - that the Czech airlines option worked nicely - just doesn’t seem to be working for my China Airlines seats.

Yes, cash ticket booked via QF, so I have a QF booking reference number and a QF codeshare flight number. Originally, I was going to book it direct with CI, since as you mention, seat selection is available, however, I couldn't earn QF points if I booked it with CI.

Interesting that you have been able to use the CI website/app to manage your booking. As per the previous comments way back in this thread, I haven't been able to use my QF booking reference to access the CI app/website, it says it only accepts CI reference numbers.

Here's what I noted upthread about my experience
As a side note had no trouble accessing the CI app to select seats using the Qantas PNR, but this was not immediate - took a little under 24 hours for it to be recognised. Have booked MEL-KIX (via TPE) in J and had no trouble selecting seats for the MEL-TPE leg. Could not select seats for the TPE-KIX leg but no big deal. Will look again closer to the time.
I was eventually able to select seats for the TPE-KIX leg, plus also later bookings I made from NRT-TPE-BNE all on the China Airlines site. All my selections were prior to the change which (theoretically) allowed seat selections directly on the Qantas website. Out of curiosity I have just gone back into the China Airlines app with my Qantas PNR. I can see the flight details but I can no longer make seat selections or otherwise manage the booking from in the app. So I guess all functionality has been moved to Qantas now?

Hi Toni,Someone might have already answered this but I downloaded the China Airlines App and did seat selection .. It has since also transferred that info to my booking with Qantas..

I booked my flights last year however also didn't get the option to book my seats on Qantas until around February. My flights to taiwan were in early March.

If Qantas has now added this functionality to the website it must say something about the number of CI seats being redeemed with QFF.

Perhaps, or it may be in response to how poor the China Airlines website is compared to say, Cathay Pacific.

For a major airline, CIs website is subpar.

I want to book a redemption flight from ROR to TPE. The problem is, I can't select ROR as a departure airport. I can see plenty of availability for my dates by searching a TPE-ROR return, but when I call QF they can't even seem to find the flights, let alone availability. Tried a few different agents and all said the same - any ideas? Could I book the return and then call them up to cancel the TPE-ROR portion?
