Clearly not a kid - 40+ I would est - China - NEVER A Dull Moment!

Civilisation as I know it in Beijing comers to an abrupt halt today when BJs best known / longest established expat bat The Den closes it's doors permanently after 18 long glorious years.

The Den has been the 'go to' bar for westerners from all points on the planet - just a BJ institution. Building is owned by Govt and whist mgmt. had been negotiating lease extensions for some months on Thurs night Dec 10 they were officially told midnight on Sunday Dec 13 was D-day - close the doors and remove all fixtures fittings within 48hrs.

Staff are just devastated - they are just a beautiful bunch of kids working there - final wake this evening with 'The Party' timed for 5 to 9pm - it's going to be a long night!

If travelling as a family of 4 could you run "backwards" and have 4 facing each other?
Absolutely you can in any class provided you get suitable seat allocation.

2nd class seating is 2/3 or 3/2:

If you Travel in First or Second Class, the seats rotate 180 degrees.

If you travel Business class as Cruiser Elite - they don't rotate and are fixed, so at times you are sitting in them with the distance of travel going in the opposite direction.

"However" you would need to buy first class tickets to get 2 seats to rotate to face the rear 2 seats - and somehow buy the correct group of seats or convince others to swap with you for your whole journey.

I have seen people do it in First Class, but you kinda need to be getting on first station of a trains route and expect to negotiate with multiple people at each stop who have been allocated the seats you are consuming to swap with them - assuming you don't pull off being allocated the correct group of 4 seats.

They tend to allocate seats in China going down the list, and have traveled as 2 people and being given 12F and 13A for example, so seat negotiation is normal in a lot of ways to get the group of seats together you want in First Class. Second Class is a nightmare in the 5 wide config, of 3 one side, 2 the other - and no one really wants the middle seat of 3, if allocated the isle or window of a 2.

And 1st class seating is 2/2:

CRH train classes very a little from planes - highest class is Business then First then Second. Provided you can secure suitable seats it will not be a prob to swivel a pair.
