China Southern Ticket # mystery .... how to find it...?

Hello All,

Got a question:
Have a booking via Qantas Codeshare (QF flight numbers) for China Southern. Wanted to change a catering option and China Southern insist (via phone call) that they cannot do that without a 784- ticket number which I need to provide - for some bizarre reason they can't access it. I did get a different China Southern Booking Ref # from Qantas, as the usual one does not work ....
Anyway, Qantas reckon they don't have it and nor does Expedia who we had to book this through as the flights don't show up on the Qantas site directly.

So, how does one obtain this mystery number?

BTW, trying to do anything via China Southern's website is a total coughshoot too but I have tried....

Chinese airline websites are pretty hopeless unfortunately. Also, you definitely won't have a 784 ticket number. Did they not accept the other booking ref that Qantas gave you over the phone?

They accepted the weird booking reference Qantas gave me for the seat allocation but not the meal!
