The final nail was removing the MasterCard function. That was the only excuse to require a physical card.

Once they all expire they’ll be gone for everyone.

I am hoping to get my lifetime gold card next year, Qantas better have it as an option.
Such a cheap marketing option and they getting rid of it.

Same happened to me back in August when I claimed my new luggage tag.

One should still be able to request a physical card separately I've been meaning to try this.

Disagree, last year on my OWA my status wasn't showing on my BA and Finnair boarding passes. Having my physical WP card was a lifesaver wrt getting into the First rather than J lounges.

Digital is fine flying QF, but nice to have physical card when flying partners os when there are glitches as I experienced.

I certainly want a physically LTG card when I get there.

I suspect you will still be able to get a physical card but have to pay points for the privilege.

I agree, I much prefer the physical card, but you can show your digital QF card either through the app or Apple wallet. That carries the same weight with most airlines. I want to keep my physical card but I can see the writing on the wall.

I didn’t know LTG cards were a thing - I guess you don’t get them while you’re platinum? I have LTG on my digital card.

Physical LTG cards are definitely a thing. Shrek has one. He briefly dropped below Gold once he started crediting to BAEC and it was sent out to him. Now has Partner Platinum.

It seems physical cards on request are only sent to Australia and New Zealand residents. They do send Platinum cards overseas when you first reach Platinum.

Though one would think most QFF members would be Australian/New Zealand residents

Exactly.

but if based os you can always change your postal address to a family member or friend based in Australia, request card, have it go to them, ask them to mail it to you and then change address back.

Physical cards are certainly handy when wanting access to EK lounges, I've always been asked my membership card as Qantas obviously doesn't display it on boarding passes any more

I may have to do that, or collect from family when I am back in Melbourne for Christmas.

Ironically the physical card is most useful to have when overseas, travelling with partner airlines in countries where they do not seem to recognise digital cards or question if they are trustworthy or authentic. Whereas the digital card is not a problem when travelling in AU/NZ.

I still have my platinum card that expired in 2020.
When I first got to Gold, I was mid RTW holiday and only have a silver card. Was sometimes hard to get into the now accessible AA lounges with my old status (but still valid) card.

As with any digital option, the digital card might be fine, but only when the device is working. Can also be problematic if you're overseas and need a working internet connection to access an online card.

Agree the physical card is most needed overseas; which is why I want one.

I have (had) the option to request a physical card reappear. Just clicked and submitted. 😉
