Choosing a New York airport (BA to LHR)

Hi all - I'm flying from New York to London in May 2022 as part of a Oneworld Classic Flight Reward with QFF. Currently booked 2x J seats on BA from EWR to LHR. I chose this flight specifically for the 787-10 to avoid the dreaded layouts of the other options (although perhaps there may be some 777 or 787-9 Club World refurbs by then?). Question is should I avoid EWR airport at all costs? I could fly out of JFK or LGA instead. Many thanks!

No long haul from LGA (nor 'long haul' domestic - except on Saturday's IIRC).

There are pro's and cons to both - I've caught mass transit from various locations in Manhattan and find them about the same amount of effort to get to.

I'd take EWR for the better config.

The Lounge Options are much better at JFK.
It’s also a flat fare in the taxi to get there.
Keep an eye out for a better JFK-LHR cabin and switch to it.

In fact if this flight is overnight I’d switch now to route out of JFK.

I would also consider taking AA out of JFK. Flagship lounge access, no fuel surcharges (will save you around AUD500 per person), good arrivals lounge in LHR, good seating. The flight is so short the food is neither here nor there, it's pretty much serve as quickly as possible so everyone can sleep.

AA's seating will be consistent, BA could change their aircraft to the ying-yang seating.

Also with a departure out of JFK you could arrive a little early and have a drink at the TWA hotel!

Well we have flown out of EWR twice to London.But IRROPS and didn't have a choice.Both on BA.
But you don't have to worry about seats out of JFK.

British Airways has revealed that all Boeing 777s should feature the new Club Suites business class by the end of 2022. Given that newly delivered A350s and 787s also feature Club Suites, that means a majority of the long haul fleet should feature the new product by the end of next year.


Furthermore, effective immediately, all planes to JFK will feature Club Suites as well. It’s not surprising to see this kind of a commitment, given what an important market New York is for British Airways.

British Airways has finished installing the new Club Suites business class on its Boeing 777s. There's a slight catch, though.

Welcome to AFF, I can not add any further insight to what has been provided, I have always chosen to fly in/out of JFK. To the point made by @Princess Fiona about the regulated taxi pricing to/from JFK IIRC this applies to both taxis and standard driver services. As the price is regulated and IME taxis can be hard to find at JFK during certain of the day. I normally use dial 7 (a car booking company with an app) for JFK-NYC and have not had any issues. If your flight is late or early, the driver is not there etc. you just call the main phone number and another driver shows up within minutes. Just be aware that once you start to travel outside of the regulated zone the price increases is dramatic.

All BA flights to JFK are now the new Club Suites subject to last minute plane issues (as would be the case anywhere) but JFK is one of the guaranteed routes for Suites.

Thank you all for the comments, insights and warm welcome. I was keen on flying AA for this sector but there was no availability and I didn't have much flexibility regarding the date unfortunately.
