(I apologise to those who do not celebrate Christmas for personal, religious or anti-capitalist reasons - this thread is not intended to offend)

Christmas is often a time for love, reflecting, being with family and.... giving. Giving gifts. For some of us this may not be a problem, but for some others, trying to find a gift for someone (a loved one especially) can be so difficult.

Some gifts are easy tokens to give away, like gift vouchers or cash (the latter seeming to work on little kids, unless they were expecting the latest Xbox/PS3/Wii game instead). For others, sometimes a piece of clothing will suffice (just hope you got their size correct - and "you'll grow into it" isn't a great cop-out). Maybe someone will benefit from that amenity kit you never used ("is it another one from Qantas, dear? Just add it to the pile with the other 16 in my dresser"). Or perhaps that perfume / alcohol you picked up at a bargain from the duty free sales from your previous trip. Chocolates are always a nice gift unless its the family who will end up eating it....with you (but choccies seem to work a treat at the office).

I'm the one who definitely has trouble finding great gifts. So....for the benefit of everyone else who might be in the same boat, and for others who wouldn't mind or are looking for other ideas, I've started this thread, with the basic question:

What are you thinking of getting others (your family, friends, colleagues, other important people in your life) for Christmas this year?

Hopefully all of us will get some great ideas and be able to spread some cheer around this Christmas with less stress. :)

Pyjamas, I have some nice grey ones with a black kangaroo on the front, some very nice amenity kits with moisturizer and stuff, and for that special someone a lovely pair of, what I can only describe as, khaki Pyjamas with matching thin sole slippers. :p

Our family took the Kris Kringle route years ago, and being a hopeless buyer (or chooser, more accurately) of gifts, this suits me fine. Any kids are excepted of course - though only one 12-month old falls into that category currently. I'm happy to give random gifts to family members (mum particularly :)) at other times of the year.

It is much, much too early for me to be thinking of Christmas shopping, let alone thinking about gift selection.

I usually combine the above two activities and save them for Christmas Eve :)

Most of my family recently got pressies courtesy of my trip to the US... so they wont be getting much!

Duty free alcohol is always well received. Makes the hard work of those overseas trips all worthwhile. :p It does help being a teetotaller.

Teen girls in our family are keen for GHD hair straighteners, while the boys are mad for cricket supplies from muelhmans....Santa's helper is busy already, just need to outsource the wrapping

I have no big trips before Christmas but have started doing some on-line shopping from the LOTFAP great bargains to be had there :)
Monster High Dolls have featured prominently in the two youngest Santa list, eldest wants a BDO ticket.
I'll be dropping some hefty hints regarding little blue boxes as I think my collection needs a boost ;)

For two of my rellies I came up with 100,000 QF points and 518,500 Kris points for them to go to London in style for a school holiday trip as their Christmas pressie for 2011.
It may sound like a lot, but points making got cheaper this year. You can get a lot of bang for the effort seeing the perceived value is so high in retail dollars.
A big screen TV for the OLDS seeing they are getting less mobile now.

On the use of points and cash for taxes it is about $2,000 a relative for that gift of the London trip.

As I just discovered after a similar gesture! Had to pay $$ for the taxes.:shock:

Meh; it's only money.

I took into account the full costs of the points making and the QF and SQ charges for the business and first class tickets so it was a pretty good result paying $2,000 a person for the gifts.
I haven't figured the big screen TV for the Olds just yet.

I plan to buy my husband a replacement Swiss Army Knife. His was confiscated at Chongqing Airport last month after we had finished a cruise up the Yangtze River. I bought the knife for him in Switzerland more than 30 years ago.

We have been on 80+ overseas flights in the last ten years. Once he left our passports and money in the safe at the Changi Crowne Plaza, once he tried to take a bottle of water through in China, but a Swiss Army knife takes the cake. So to speak!

Princess Fiona are we talking about Tiffany here?? I am a bit tricked by colours but I know red is up top in the traffic signals.

Would those be:
Wedding Anniversary
Christmas
Birthday
Making Up

Did I get some but not all??
