The Xmas Qantas Voucher offer is back after a couple of years absence. A few changes this year:
  • Points offer this year is 3 points per dollar spent (was 5 the last time it was offered)
  • Promo period is from 9-24 December
  • You have to register every gift voucher purchased in order to be eligible for points
Details: Gift Vouchers | Qantas AU

Unless a DSC offer comes up?
LTG in the bag and I'm covered until Feb 2022 anyway, with no signs of international travel restarting (and even if it does, no lounges open here) make me think SC aren't worth much right now. That said, I expect to be 550SC short of another year of WP on the 1st March 2021... but I'm also a Points Club member ;) with a lot of points that didn't get spent this year :p why bother with cash/vouchers?

What if QF decides to lower LTP threshold due to travel restrictions? If only...

Straying a little now, but to answer your question, if they lowered it to the logical 28k-35k position, then I would continue to strive for it... and to bring this back ontopic, would consider these vouchers, as the measly points they would earn me extra could go towards Classic flights earning with Points Club.

I might jump on this, simply because I suspect it would trigger my Amex spend $300 and get $60 back Qantas offer. I do have plenty of QF flight credit though, not to mention points... but a free $60 is a free $60 ;)

Good point.... report back if this works may do the same!

Yeah, pass. Considering how many issues I have had with flight changes and cancellations (by QF) and refunds on bookings paid (initially) from gift vouchers over the last few months I'm not going to get any more unless there is a strong incentive to do so. This is not it.

Are these vouchers still coded as bookings, meaning you can't change the name(s) or number of pax? I don't always travel with the same people and this limitation, compared to a normal "gift card," makes this kind of thing a lot less attractive.

You can change passenger names upon redeeming the gift voucher for a booking, and then you would be under the name change rules of the fare booked. You can't change the number of passengers upon redemption.

Can anybody confirm whether it is permitted for me to buy these vouchers as a gift to myself? I'd phone Q and ask, but given the current confusion with people's Sydney flight bookings I wouldn't want to make it harder for those who need to contact the centre urgently.

Thanks in advance ...

Just a heads up, I pulled the trigger on this one, and it works for the Amex offer. The Amex offer expires today though, so be quick!
