More than the right stuff, they don’t make them like they used to.

I have to add my 1 degree of separation having a doctor friend, now deceased Colonel in the USAF who attended to Chuck after some of his testing. He said Chuck might be staggering around temp blinded with blood shot eyes or even knocked out cold, but would come back and do it again with pleasure.

One of the pioneers
And many of the younger ones are saying...Who?

Test pilots are generally invisible. Chuck, and some of his contemporaries were unusual in that their names became well known. His complete history, and not just the TP stuff, is interesting reading.
