... apply.. ie sectors after the first are changeable for US 100 per sector.. whenever they are changed.

Yes, the rules apply as per the date ticketed.

A check at oneworld.com shows no change in fares - the sky hasn't fallen in!

Yes , I have kept an eye on the one world site too !!

I really pulled out all stops to have this ticketed overnight, and although I haven't seen the paperwork , I understand that it happened

The latest then was that it was definitely happening and the quantum was a 1500 aud increase for the dcir29sa.

You're rignt - it is the increased fare. Funny thing is that best flights advertise it as though it is a special: "NEW OFFER! Added this week"

Wow that is some increase! I wish the govt would just bite the bullet and allow SQ or others to compete trans pacific (not just DJ).

Product Before After %increase
22K $7.5K $9.3K 24%
26K $9.1k $11.1K 22%
29K $10.6k $12.2K 15%

And that's on top of increased fuel surcharges. Wonder what will happen to the DONE and GLOBEX products, given that at $10.5K the entry products (4 continent, 34K mile respectively) are cheaper than a DCIRC26. Looks like my next visit to US will be via Europe which I guess is a good thing!! (or up the back of the bus if this goes too far ...)

They are (once again) more expensive than the competing *A product.

If you want to tour South America , they have it all to themselves.
Still a pretty good deal even at the new price, just tally up syd>jfk>Scl>syd

A bit of licence:
Code:
Product Before After %increase
22K $7.5K $9.3K 24%
26K $9.1k $11.1K 22%
29K $10.6k $12.2K 15%
E/F has been updated.

Now look at these ex USA prices:
Code:
Product USD
22K $5.5K
26K $6.6k
29K $9.9k
Ex Japan:
Code:
Product JPY
22K 577500
26K 704600
29K 1092000

The Australian price just looks silly compared to USA and Japan doesn't it. So it seems the huge rise is mostly for Ex-AU.

It seems odd, especially for *A which is actively trying to get a bigger share of the Australian market.

Actually, it's even sillier...

Use a D Circle Asia 13K to get to Philippines .. $4649 AUD
Use a DCIRC26 ex Philippines to get to US ... $4651 USD ~ $5000AUD

Total .... $9650 AUD, some $1500 cheaper than purchasing DIRC26 ex-AUS!!!

The ex-Aus pricing seems to have forgotten that the A$ is no longer trading at US$0.50, but closer to parity.

Nothing has been forgotten. Australian travelers are simply getting chiseled.

and extra silly vs ex-taiwan. my DCIR29 is now more than 1/2 price that of the new au pricing. hell, you could buy a biz return to taiwan and still be better off....

It appears that Qantas [more correctly the Qantas influence over oneworld] is slowly catching up to us, country by country:

DCIR22 ex MNL is now USD 5,453 (up from 3813 from memory);

DCIR26 ex MNL is now USD 6,653

DCIR29 ex MNL is now USD 7,089

How soon before the QF bean counters get to Indonesia?

My boss recently queried why I wasnt doing a DCIRC to get to the US in Sep - this is a good reason now...

My big concern is the price of the DONE4 and where that can go now. I ticketed an ex-AUS DONE4 through AA yesterday at about A$10,790 (incl +++) which is close to the price of a corporate SYD-JFK-SYD fare.

Yep gone are the glory days when an ex-Aus DONE4 could be had for under US$5000 including all taxes.

How long ago was that?
And how much was SYD-LAX J back then?

In Feb 2001 I paid $8214 for a DONE4 and the exchange rate was US$0.515, making it about US$4230 for the airfare as charged to my US-based cost centre.

A year earlier than that I paid A$6620 for a J return BNE-IAD-BNE. Between those two dates I paid A$2942 for an economy BNE-DFW-BNE and A$3185 for an economy BNE-SJC-BNE. I paid $2599 for a LONE4 in October 2000.
