Yes, the concierge company books the hotel and charges you at the time. They used expedia for me which i believe own hotels.com so may be the same pricing. I definitely received the 35% discount expedia were advertising as a members only rate at the time.Does the 4th night free need to be booked with Citi concierge? I've seen some references to hotels.com as well
Thanks for the response - good that you know what rate you're going to get before you call them up.Yes, the concierge company books the hotel and charges you at the time. I did send through screen shots of the hotel and rate to concierge to ensure they also gave me the discount. worked out considerably cheaper than other hotel sites in my case.
I agree - This is a fantastic benefit that easily offsets the cost of the card. For that reason I think I'm going to make this my 'hold onto' and not churn card. Plus the priority pass helps. Just a shame the minimum credit limit is $20,000...would be nice to lower to help with churning other cards. Thanks for the response - good that you know what rate you're going to get before you call them up.
Seems like a great benefit then
Thats odd. In my conversations with the conciege team they made clear to me they essentially book it through Expedia themselves....
The concierge service isn’t actually Citibank, it’s contracted out to travelscape llc.Got it sorted in the end. I think the issue was that the lower price was actually the second option in the room category, and that was a bit much for them to figure out .
The arrangement is dodgy on a few levels. It seems the agents are logging in using their personal Expedia accounts (as the reservation is actually made in the call centre workers name with us as the guest). That means the credit card number is saved in the profile (this was the second booking with the same agent so she knew my card number and expiry date). They also ask you to provide (verbally) the SMS security code over the phone. Seriously dodgy!
Another slight oddity…. The reservations are earning Expedia points to the call centre workers account (including a “gold bonus”, no doubt because they’re booking more than average). The phone number on the concierge email is also incorrect (diverts to a line that says “welcome to customer service” - no company name). “Customer service” provided a number for concierge that doesn’t connect. I queried this and was told “oh my colleague was wondering why there’s no calls. I’ll ask her to reset her computer”. And this is one of the worlds major banks
Down to 275000 points and annual fee is back to $700. Was going to apply for this in a few weeks but not now.
This card was probably the best value card ive ever churned, shame they are diluting itDown to 275000 points and annual fee is back to $700. Was going to apply for this in a few weeks but not now.
I am thinking of applying for a NAB card whilst holding the citi card, is there definitely an issue here?Applied 9am approved 7 hours later.
Just hoping that there are no issues as I had a nab card 11 months ago.
