One of my associates asked me about using a Citibank Business Credit Card to run up Singapore Kris Flyer points. I looked on the web site and there was nothing there other than Qantas information.
The questions are:
What is the first year cost and how many Kris points do you get with a successful application?
Is the Kris points cap at 250,000 per year?
If you spend $60,000 on eligible purchases on this card how many Kris points do you get?
I am hoping you can fill in the big gaps in the Citibank web page.

Cove, I just copied your post and sent it to CitiBank Facebook site. I have asked questions at FB previously and get a reasonable rapid response. Will post their reply back here, if I get one.....

Good thinking MAX_1 because I think the answers may give us the credit card of choice for small and medium business owners who don't want to pay $700 for Citi Select and want to fly Singapore Airlines or other Star Alliance carriers.
The call centre could give me unreliable information so that is why I opened this thread.

Here is the reply from CitiBank:-

"Hi Peter(me), yes, there are KrisFlyer points associated with our CitiBusiness card - they are the same as our Citi Select card which is 1.5 Citibank Rewards points = 1 KrisFlyer point. The CitiBusiness points cap is 80,000 points. The annual card fee is $149. If you spend $60,000 you get 50,000 KrisFlyer points. Hope this helps!"

Is that conversion correct for Select?

It is for CitiBusiness as stated.

Spend $50,000 and earn at 1.25 = 75,000 Citipoints.

Convert at 3:2 = 50,000 KF Points.

Well here is what the call centre told me:
Annual cap is 250,000 Citi rewards points.
Fee is $149 annually.
You get a sign on bonus of 40,000 Citi rewards points which reduces the number of other points you can earn in the first year to 210,000 Citi rewards points.
Now if you put $60,000 of eligible expenses on the card you earn 1.25 CitiRewards points so that gets you 75000 to add on to your 40,000 sign on bonus equals 115,000.
Transferring to Kris is in 15,000 multiples of Citi Rewards to get you 10,000 Kris points and seeing you have 7 complete lots of 15,000 plus 10,000 left over you get 70,000 Kris points into Singapore Airlines.

OK the true earn rate is 0.8333 points per dollar spent plus the sign on bonus that will net you 33,333 Kris points for $149.

Now that was a bit convoluted. If you are now wondering how this could be such a tortuous path I think it would be easier to use this same card to earn 1.25 points per dollar with Qantas instead!
