Citibank - NEVER GIVE UP

Signed up for a Select card in addition to my CBG and was approved last week. Today I received a statement in the mail for the new card - statement period of 21/3 to 21/3 and a $0 balance. I haven't yet received my actual card!

Another quality effort from CitiBank :-) Although entertaining rather than annoying.

One thing that has me a little concerned is that the top of the statement says "Citi Signature" in fancy script. Can any Select cardholers confirm whether their statements also Citi Signature across the top? Or have CitiBank signed me up for the wrong type of card?

Both of our Citi statements say Citi Signature so don't panic.
Welcome to Select !

Your struggle appears to be in the final stage.
Actually I had trouble with the internet site for only a few weeks but now I understand how it works.....sort of.
Your next steps are BPay into Citi and the web site and finally getting a workable credit limit after you get your card of course.

It's actually been quite simple - just the card delivery is being slow.

Yeah, their website is a real PITA. Once you figure it out it's better, but you still can't avoid random timeouts and things not working right.

Got those covered already - I'm an existing customer of Citibank, have had a CitiBusiness Gold card for years, Select is a second card with them. Limit also starts off reasonably good as I simply transferred most of the limit from the CBG across to the Select card.

I think you are now at YES when the card arrives.
Are you going to try the non Qantas version as that is generous.

If you're an existing customer you'll be delighted to know that the process for changing the PIN on your new card is SIMPLY THE MOST BACKWARDS, PAINFUL EXPERIENCE YOU COULD IMAGINE for something as simple as an online PIN change

:?: Sorry, I don't understand.

Yes, definitely non-Qantas version - don't need another $1:1 QFF point card (not to mention my CBG earns $1:1.25 FF points), but I do want a $1:1.33 KF points card :-)

Yeah I saw your posts about that at the start of the thread - thanks for doing the research for me ;)

How did you get your Select card to show up in your first (main) online profile as well? I can't see any option to "add" another card.

Card arrived yesterday :D

Fairly impressive packaging and glad I've got the card. What was not so impressive was waiting 40 minutes on hold to activate it!! Ironic that the longest I've ever waited on hold to CitiBank as a CitiBusiness Gold cardholder was ~5 minutes, and my first call after signing up for a $700pa Select card I wait for 40 minutes!

^That's not good, but hopefully not indicative. I've had short wait times the few times I've called the Select line. Otherwise my experience mirrored yours exactly, wafliron. The good part about phantom blank statements showing up before the card is that it's brought my billing cycle forward. That means much less time to wait to get my first spend into first points into bonus points showing up on the first statement - which will, of course, be the second statement. [That last part happening is still an assumption as my second statement hasn't quite arrived yet. Hopefully all will go according to plan.]

I'm sure it's not - frustrating none the less!

I guess that is a good point - has brought forward the statement cycle by a day or two. I'm hoping I won't have to fight with Citi to get my 50k CR point sign-on bonus given I'm not a new-to-bank customer - I was assured by two separate reps that the bonus applied to any new card application for Select, not just new-to-bank customers, but I don't have a lot of confidence that they'll get it right.

Just to be clear, my experience was a product 'upgrade' as Citi kept referring to it (it wasn't really - Platinum to CitiBusiness), so there was already a CC in my online profile and the name just changed etc...

The PIN selection through the new profile means it sits under two profiles, so once added to your main profile you shouldn't have any problems.

I find that with most organisations your card will show up online after it has been issued etc. Otherwise I'm sure you'll have fun talking the wonderful call centre and getting it added...

Won't be surprised if you need to fill in a form, fax it six times, post it twice, and then send a fruit basket to Manila to get it done however.

Fingers crossed it just shows up

Thanks for clarifying, I didn't realise yours was a card upgrade.

I ended up asking CB whether the card could be added to my existing internet banking profile and they said no, I'll need to setup a new internet banking profile for it. Somewhat annoying, but not that surprising.

You forgot the ritual goat sacrifice - no wonder you had so much trouble.

To keep you interested I can tell you that I achieved the same exchange rates as 28 degrees on my recent London trip and I am expecting 3.333 points per dollar. I don't see how they could have charged their fee!

I set mine up just to change the password but I thought that surely I could add the card to my existing profile. That is the craziest thing I've heard yet. OK, maybe not the craziest but sheesh! Why is it that for the other 4 banks I deal with I can have one customer log-in to access credit cards, mortgages and loans, savings accounts - all in 1 place. Actually, I only have 1 list even though there are different entity names on the accounts! Another reason I will get rid of the Platinum next month & roll that credit limit onto the Select.

Boy, I can't wait to get me some of that action! [Why is there no drooling emoticon?]

I suspect it may be to do with the fact that each card has it's own CitiRewards account (with each CR account also being a different "type" - i.e. different rules for what you can redeem to). Not say that's OK, but I suspect that's the reason.

I would have given up on citi after reading this thread. I have a citi something card I will be closing in April because of poor service at the call centre level. Drives me up the wall.

Some of their cards are just such good value though. Plus I actually don't mind their CS too much - some of their processes are ridiculous, but as I posted somewhere (earlier in this thread?) I think the standard of service you get has a lot to do with how you approach / speak to them.
