Citibank Signature Qantas 150,000 points

I received 100,000 QFF points for the$5000 spend in December 2019. I was thinking to cancel the card before the annual fee is coming up next month. Citibank emailed me that I will receive an "extra"50k points after December (as per the deal I signed up last year) obviously with $395 annual fee. I am looking for suggestion if I should pay the fee and take the points? I don't really need this credit card in 2021...

You could try calling them to see if they are willing to move on the annual fee (along with letting you keep the 50k) if you retain the card for an additional year. Start off at having it waived then work your way up from there.

Thank you everyone. Will report back soon.

Happy Boxing Day. Called Citibank. Annual fee waived and will also receive the 50,000 Qantas points for being the second year having the premier card. Thanks for the suggestion.
My renewal was due in December. I rang up a week before it was due to be charged and was offered $200 off the fee. I declined and rang up 2 days before and talked to the closure team - full rebate of the $395 offered. They said they would charge the fee on the due day and immediately rebate it which they did. Didn't ásk about the 50k Qantas points but hope they get posted in January.

What exactly did you say when you made the request?

Just mentioned the annual fee was posted a few days ago and I would like have this reviewed - also mentioned can’t use the travel benefit of the card due to COVID19. 5 minutes later the fee is waived.

I have just received my January statement but no 50k QF points. Are they supposed to post on the first statement in the 2nd year or is there a time lag? I imagine the T&Cs probably say within 8 or 12 weeks but what is people's experience?

I called Citibank and they told me to wait up to 12 weeks (by End of Feb). Would be interested to know if other people got it earlier.

My 50k QF points posted today along with my transaction points from my Feb statement. Surprisingly my 50k points were not listed on my Feb statement. I didn't contact Citibank at all about these 50k points.

Over the past 2 weeks, I've tried to get an annual fee waiver on this card for its 2nd year fee. Absolutely no luck - best anyone would do for me was $50 rebate (blurgh!).

Only continued to hold the card for the 50k QFF (which posted automatically), and hoped I could dodge the $395 annual fee. Almost felt defeated as numerous calls all said no - $50 rebate is all that could be done.

Another option presented itself during the call - downgrade the card and get a pro-rata refund of the fee.

Worked a treat!

A slow burn this card, but with 150k QFF for circa $130 in fees, an 18month BT that still has funds in offset, and a few gift cards thanks to a Fixed Payment Option promo a few months back... This had to have been the best value card I've held!

Some points earn rate changes on this card from April 6;

Domestic Spend

You will earn 1 Point per $1 spent on eligible transactions made online*.

You will earn 0.5 Points per $1 spent on all other eligible transactions.

International Spend

You will continue to earn 1 Point per $1 spent on eligible International Spend.

Your Points earn rate will be capped at 100,000 Points over a 12-month period and will reset on the statement cycle after the anniversary of your enrolment date of xx-xx_.

Annual fee is dropping to $350 inclusive of QF $49 fee (down from $395 + 49).

Another Citi Card to consider, is 100,000 Velocity points for $99 which is a fair deal.

Perhaps a good card whilst awaiting other CC exclusion periods.

Virgin are bouncing back to life ( except their F&B offering) with good growth including new ADL - OOL route.

Reviving an old thread here!

I've signed up to the Qantas Citibank credit card with the 100,000 bonus point promotion and received my first statement yesterday (03/02/22), but haven't had any Qantas points credit to my account. I can see via Citibank online that points were transferred with a date showing yesterday, but I have nothing showing on Qantas yet.

Does anyone have a reference point for how long it takes for points to turn up in Qantas FF post a statement being issued?

Hi Jboy,
I reached the spending milestone within the first month and received the bonus points plus the regular spending points on the same day as my very first statement.
I was pleasantly surprised!

Thanks for letting me know. I checked yesterday and noticed the points transfers were 'rejected' on the Citibank website.

I believe the issue all has to do with how Citibank record your name on their system v what Qantas have recorded.

Are you able to check what format your name is recorded on the Citibank site? This is under Rewards -> Miles Registration. Mine currently is FIRSTNAME SURNAME which matches my Qantas account but doesn't seem to have worked.... I suspect I'll be spending more time on the phone with Citibank to have this resolved...

Sorry! Account is already closed. Good luck!
