Citibank- transfering points before devaulation

Made the third and probably final transfer of points to SQ and VA since the devaluation became locked in. Interesting what this exercise cost Citi.

To be honest, am looking forward to exploring the other airline programs though first have a nasty case of points indigestion to worry about over the next three years.

With the VA changes coming I don't know where to transfer my points now. I would have done VA for Etihad F but now if I'm going to target Singapore Airlines is KrisFlyer the way to go now? Thoughts?

Just bought a birthday present trip for a family friend. Business class was available on SQ so I send points to Kris due to that availability.

Cleaned out my Citi account all transferred to Kris

I think the biggest loser from the Citi de-valuation will be KrisFlyer. After the de-valuation - Asia Miles becomes the most valuable IMO.

Well while my wife's new ANZ Reward Black VISA still earns (so far current holders are being reduced but her new one has not yet been....) one KF per $ it will get all our families VISA/MC spend and for the time being has replaced our Citibank Signature spend.

Timely reminder for me to transfer sooner rather than last several days.

Was wondering this myself, serious search for new cards.

The devaluation of the Citibank re landing of KF points is a bit of an end of era in that virtually all my VISA/MC spend would go on it whereas my Amex spend did and does go on a diversity of Amex cards in order to maximise earn. Chasing sign on boniis has futher fragmented the Amex spend over the years but the Citibank has been a constant in the wallet fora long time.

My two cents is 80% SQ KrisFlyer, 20% Virgin Australia depending on your current inventories of both.

I'll discuss it more at the think tank drink tank.

Citi Prestige is good at $1:1 to Asia Miles post SQ devaluation

Asia Miles: 80K (+$200) HKG-BNE return on CX (vs 92K SQ + $500) and QF domestic awards are cheaper using Asia Miles than QF points too

Ta. Though does not that Card transfer at tye same rate to Asia Miles or Krisflyer?

And yes I agree Asia Miles does have some good redemptions.

Ouch at the $700 yearly Prestige Fee though (Though year one will earn 35K to KF or Asia Miles).

Do Asia Miles like SQ miles also have 3 year expiry if unused?

I thought ANZ rewards black Visa was 3 ANZ rewards points converted to 1 KF point? And you only earn 2 rewards points per $ spend on the Visa? 3 rewards points on the AMEX. So that would be 0.667 KF points per $ yea?

Tip.
Just paid the Annual Health Insurance in advance(less than increase come April 1st) to get across the 15K transfer min ;)

You are correct. I must have have misread it (I probably read that first line too quickly!!!!!!!!!!).

Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer Miles
Redeem an initial minimum of 6,000 Reward Points for KrisFlyer Miles, and additional multiples of 3,000 Reward Points.
Redeem 6,000 Reward Points for 2,000 KrisFlyer Miles. Allow up to 14 business days for Kris Flyer Miles to be allocated to your account. Account Holder must be a member of the KrisFlyer program. KrisFlyer conditions apply. Visit www.krisflyer.com.

Looks like I will transfer the points to Velocity rather than KF now as its transfer rate is better!!!

I had only really got this card for the sign on bonii as it was free and for Feb ATO payments. hand briefly thought to keep using its VISA....but will have to rethink this now. Though while it earns at 2 reward points per $ it is 1 Velocity Point per $.

Will however now put some pre-pays through on the Citibank.

Yep, they also generally run a 15% bonus transfer to velocity twice a year, so am holding my points in ANZ and will hopefully transfer to velocity with the 15% bonus if/when it comes about.

Yes my thoughts exactly. The bonus with the better transfer rate will make it the best use of this particular stash of points. Once they are gone will cancel the card.
