I had a free gold card for line account with them some months back, and closed it to consolidate. Too many cards.
Is there any way i can get the fee-free platinum now?

Why would you close a free card?
in retrospect i shouldn't have done so. But i had a few cards already so i thought i would just close it. Was no loss to me then since i was not actually using it.
With the platinum i get to use the concierge and travel insurance (where AMEX is not accepted), so that is something that would be of benefit to me. Free is better than the $295 i am paying for my westpac altitude platinum, which i will close if they offer me the free Citi plat.
Which brings me back to my 1st question - how do i get it now?
Yeah, I'm not sure if I'll upgrade to the free platinum, the offer stands until November anyway, so I have some time to decide.... quite happy with the gold as it is, and not sure if I'll actually use the concierge service... like others I am pretty surprised I got offered the platinum
Nope, a friend just applied and was approved for a Gold card.I think they may be phasing out Gold altogether...?
Before I accept this offer, does anyone know whether Citibank would do another credit check since it's effectively a new card? I'm planning to purchase a property in the near future and didn't want my credit history to be affected...
There are no free offers posted at this time, they did exist but the application url was removed earlier this year. How do i get free ...
Just ring Citibank to "un-close" the Gold card, providing you only close only within 6 months? Good luck though as they may not be willing to do so.
today i received my new chip embedded citibank platinum visa card (upgraded from free-for-life gold). i wanted to ensure that the new platinum upgrade would not curtail the free-for-life terms and conditions on my current gold visa card. i called and the rep told me "nothing would change" and that i would "absolutely retain your free-for-life status."
so i went ahead and activated the new card. hope this helps someone else in the same situation.
btw, i want to again thank the board or originally turning me onto the free-for-life card last year. this has been a great card.
thanks,
alem
By CBA, you are referring to Citibank rather than Commonwealth Bank? Just to stop Commonwealth customers getting excitedSeems like everyone I know with CBA gold including myself got upgraded to Platinum (5 of us already)..
