CitiBusiness Gold - 80k points cap?

That's pretty much par for the course when it comes to Citibank. They have truly awful customer service. However the lure of 1.25 QFF points per $ on a Visa card makes me suffer through the minimum necessary dealings with them.

I'm seriously so very close to withdrawing my application. Another call from them today to verify more information which I have previously provided or is already in the application.

e.g. how long have you been with the company?

me: it says it in the application

them: we need to hear it verbally

wtf????

citibank: are you a citizen, permanent resident etc?

me: I faxed through my Australian passport yesterday...

ARG, one more call/email from them and i'm out!!

My last Citi call was with Manila so he was converting my income to his currency and going WOW!
Just trying to get a credit limit increase........

...and I'm thinking of applying for this card in the next few days or so!!

I applied over phone last Saturday. Sure Manila centre took application. Was told it's 'conditionally approved'! Reason: I'm over 18, Australian resident, no previous relationship with bank. That doesn't hold much weight.
Anyway, email confirmation comes through seeking additional info by fax to 1300 number. Then on Monday, call was put through to my accountant, with request for tax assessments, etc. I called Citi and told them i only applied for rewards, not for need of credit. Told her I didnt wish to proceed.
But this morning I got a call but before much was said, I told the person, in India, that I had already advised I wasn't keen to go ahead, but he told me my external accountant was on the other line and persuaded me to give okay for her to confirm income details. That was a conference call.
To a cut a long story short, I got an email in 30 minutes to say my application was approved, card and pin to follow soon.
Didn't have to send assessments, driver Licence or medicare bill or anything which was sought in email. So nice outcome, eventually. Hope Citi doesn't disappoint.

I applied nearly 4 weeks ago and, as a result of so many subsequent documentation requests, I think my application file is now too complex for them to follow.
I must be starting to affect their KPI targets, as they have started ringing me daily (asking the same questions).

Hmm the sign up process was easy for me. Applied, they asked for pay slip, I faxed, they called to confirm employment, I transferred call to manager, received card a week later.

It is a bit more work than other banks, but id rather they be thorough then to have another credit bubble.

Things have changed since the GFC, I didn't have this experience when I applied for my Citi Platinum CC.

I'm sure the GFC has something to do with it, but I'd bet the more stringent requirements are mainly the result of the new national credit legislation that came into effect last year (National Consumer Credit Protection Act, or NCCP for short).

NCCP is a big / complex piece of legislation, but amongst other things it includes a requirement for credit providers to ensure any credit provided is "not unsuitable" for the customer - hence more stringent servicability tests, documentation requirements, etc.

... checked online status today - it showed application cancelled.
Rang Citi, they said it wasn't cancelled. Then Manilla transferred me to Mumbai, who said it was in stage 4 (?) of processing.
Might contact the Platinum Service Desk to see if they can help in getting it sorted.

oops, just noticed offer expired 31 December. If there's a next time, I think I will visit the CBD branch rather than use that call centre again.

Just noticed that Citibank's website has been updated and that offer has been extended to 31 March. Plus, annual fee has been halved to $74 for the first year

it doesn't seem to still include the 40000 reward points for sign up?

You're right. Offer at the moment is half usual annual fee and 4 months interest free.

I've not received the 40k points bonus which was on offer when I applied. Spoke with call centre and was informed that someone will write to me in 4 or 5 days.

Points through purchases have all posted at rate of 1.25 points per $ spent.

True. However, for 3 days during January (10,11,12) 40,000 bonus points was still appearing on the website. So, I've applied, printed the screen shoot that clearly states 40,000 bonus points, was approved within 3 days. It took few phone calls and faxing the printout to Citibank, but I received 40,000 bonus points!

Applied for this card, admittedly on 30 December last year, and was instantly conditionally approved and had no issues with the process. However the 40,000 bonus points on first spend have not posted. I rang today and got a similar response to foreigner - someone will call me back in 4-5 days. Call centre thought the promotion may have been 40,000 with a $10,000 spend in first 3 months.

Unfortunately didn't take screenshots of the offer at sign-up. Would Bozz or anyone have a file or a printout of the 40,000 bonus offer?

Got my 40,000 points. I suggest you harass Citi until they relent.
