Claim share of 5 million points by transferring from flybuys to Velocity

You might want to follow up with flybuys, I got 10.48 points per 1000 and do not have auto transfer turned on.

Same here. Did one manual 1k transfer just out of curiosity more than anything (do not have auto transfer turned on) and I received a grand total of 11 bonus Flybuys points. At least they rounded up, I guess!

I transferred 3000 and got 32 points. 10.66/1000?

I don't see it as a rubbish promo. I needed to transfer points to buy awards in business, and as a bonus I got some more points.
It is 1% bonus. As promotions go, 1% bonus is not going to persuade many people to change their behaviour. As you said, you were going to transfer the points anyway.

I guess the 10.48 per share says about 477,100, 000 flybuys points were transferred into 238 million velocity points.

(5000000/10.48) = number of shares times by 1000 = flybuys points transferred

It seems a few people were persuaded, given the low return @1%

I bet they transferred in the belief (hope?) that they would get considerably more than that. If gambling promotions lead to that sort of yield, people will soon stop participating (which, ironically, would increase the yield).

I agree. I won’t transfer on a promotion again unless I know exactly what I will get in return. 1% does not cut it. I have turned off the auto-transfer feature again. I don’t want to accumulate too many Velocity points until I know where VA are heading (I’m worried I won’t be able to use them Internationally). Wish I didn’t transfer so many over - didn’t even get the 2-shares for auto-transfer. Doubt I will call for such a small amount.

VA apparently are doing really well, better than expected. They won’t be going anywhere.
Going forward they need to think about their international strategy inc partnerships.

I auto-transferred 161,000 FBs for 81,500 VF and got 2000 VF bonus points. I make that to be a 2.45% bonus. Like others, never again. But returns do seem very variable.

The bonus was supposed to be in Flybuys, not Velocity. Maybe the bonus took you over the next increment to get an automatic transfer to Velocity - but check your Flybuys account to see accurately what bonus you got.

When or what date did the points start to land in your accounts. I am pretty sure I followed all the rules and did the auto transfer within the required timeframe but have not noticed anything in my account. I only moved 20000 FB points after conversion VA points whatever that works out to be I am just wondering if 1-2% bonus is worth the call. Personally I place very little value in VA points.

You are correct. FBs transferred over to VF. So return was 2.09% - even worsen, but consistent with others.

It’s listed in March FB transactions.

I wasn't going to comment further on this, but...

First you say the promo was rubbish and would never encourage people to transfer. when presented with the fact that lots of people did transfer suddenly their all ignorant gamblers.
Why the never to put anything to do with Virgin down?

I think you may be misunderstanding my point. Any promotion based on getting a share of x is a gamble. People may have various different expectations, and will then see how those expectations match the outcome. I do not believe many people would have been tempted if they had expected a 1% return. As promotions go, 1% is unusually low. And this is now a data point in setting expectations for future promotions.

I transferred 30000 on auto transfer and got 315, which just landed on 29 Apr but stated as 29 Mar. I only participated due to an expectation that it would be a worthwhile amount, particularly given it was flybuy points not velocity points. Expect like a lot of people I was very disappointed which I would view as a marketing failure from Virgin / flybuys perspective.

VA have always had these transfer x points & either get a share of so many million or win a prize.
Why anybody would transfer any amount of any points without knowing what they receive in return is beyond me.

The old 15% bonus which was regularly run was the only time I ever transferred & even then it just matched the QF Rewards rate of 2:1.
They possibly won't run another 15% bonus for FB's as it's standard now, was 2000FB for 870VF now its the standard 2000FB for 1000VF.

I'm a no for the auto transfer either, but that's prob cos I have heap of VFF points & fair chunk for FB's, just no need. Can afford to wait for a juicy offer if it comes.

I have won few prizes from VA before in these similar competitions & that would be somewhat of an incentive for me, although not a return economy flight as flights rather cheap atm.

I got caught by that scam once. I refuse to fall for it again. I have changed over to auto transfer. Miss out on the 15% bonus promos, but they don't come round very often anyway. As someone wise once said, if it sounds to good to be true, it isn't and Virgin have proved that with these stupid win a share of points promos.
