Claiming TRS on Qantas Wine Purchases

Canada it’s just 1.5l you can declare. However, in every country you can take an unlimited amount of wine in your checked bag provided you discard any wine in excess of the customs limit prior to clearing customs

If you're throwing the majority of the wine away, I can't imagine that it's worth the money for the points then. If the wine is so cheap in the first place, then it's probably not worth the hassle of the TRS claim.

Not necessarily. Some of the larger bonus point offers come from the more expensive cases of wine (e.g., the aforementioned Schoolhouse wine) which works out to 1.5 cents per point on a case of 6 for $450. So if we use that as a baseline then 23.59% back is $106.15 meaning the total cost is $343.85 for 30,000 points or 1.14 cents per point. Now look I get it for wine aficionados what I am saying is a crime: discarding perfectly good wine right before customs. And for them please accept my sincerest apologies. But I would challenge anyone to find an opportunity where one could buy Qantas points so cheaply. Remember, many of us in the Qantas wine game aren’t wine drinkers. We just buy expensive wine for cheap flights!

I'd be happy to buy the wine off ya for the WET and a little kicker to drive your cost per point down even further ;)
