I often do the Jetstar surveys as they contain interesting ideas being proposed. The latest survey has an interesting proposal where classic lite reward seats offered at a lower fixed rate compared to via the QF website.

It's an interesting concept and signals a possible tighter relationship between the QFF program and JQ.

I suspect what is listed as "taxes" is actually real taxes and QF carrier surcharge. So misleading.
What are the real taxes for MEL-SYD? [have not flown that route as a standalone flight for years]

Looks about right for real taxes to me (SYD-MEL). But an interesting concept that I would probably take advantage of.

I think about $25 are real taxes and about $10 carrier surcharges.
From a Qantas booking today:

Taxes, fees and charges

Passenger Service Charge - Dom
$10.48
Goods and Services Tax (GST)
$12.91
Safety and Security Charge
$10.22
Passenger Service Charge - Dom
$12.90
Goods and Services Tax (GST)
$3.36

So probably worth it for carry on only, but if you intend to take baggage, seems pointless as it comes up more expense as a classic reward via QF includes baggage.

Seems more like a lure to get people into paying more for ‘pay with points’ add ons which are a poor use of points, but more profitable to the business.

So does this mean Qantas charge Jetstar a booking fee for FF redemptions and they are trying to avoid this,

i doubt it but apart of the survey was them trying to gauge if people understood they could points plus pay via the JQ website and then classic rewards via the QF one. It appears they’ve identified confusion.

Personally don't see it as a worthy use of points.(Or any Jetstar redemptions for that matter)
