Is there availability on any flights any more for Reward flights to Santiago on Qantas?

I've been looking over the past months as keen to book a trip for later this year in November or December (have specifically been search QF27 route - Sydney to Santiago), but none seem to appear.

I've then had a look further back across a number of months (June-October for example) and there are none for any dates (as far as I can see on Qantas) - just the message "We don’t have any seats available, try another cabin class."

A few pop up on LATAM, but looking specifically for Qantas flight so am wondering if they are not showing up online and I need to call, or if they have removed the route completely from QFF bookings?

Thanks for your help

What class are you wanting to fly? I can see direct flights in different classes.

Qantas can often be few and far between but I was looking a last month and thought I saw numerous seats on LATAM on their 789 out of Melbourne etc, which i would probably choose over a clunky old QF 747

I was looking at Economy (unfortunately don't have anywhere near enough points for business) - the only flights I could see out of sydney were for (LATAM via Auckland)?

I picked up 2 in J for April next year; booked them around May/June. I suggest you look every day as they come and go quickly on this route.

Are you looking for one or two seats?

What is your status with Qantas? I can see economy flights over in Nov (quite a few) - return Dec 2/4/23rd don't know if that helps.

I am Silver - slowly building my way to Gold ... novice question but does Status effect availability of Reward flights and the different options?

I've just done a Classic reward flight from Sydney to Santiago one way and looked at all of the dates for November individually in Economy.

There are 3 flights on 12th Nov, 19th Nov and 22nd Nov on Latam Sydney to Santiago (one stop), but all other options I get are flights that go via LA and NYC to Santiago, and there is no Qantas availability.

I can't even see any availability for flights in December either to or from Santiago?

philr2000 status most definitely effects the amount of reward seats you can see. I was Gold for 6 years and dropped back to Silver for 8 months and the difference was substantial ... thankfully reinstated back to Gold and enjoying a better offering of reward seats... all the best and keep trying! As previously stated by casanovawa have a look departing MEL for direct flights.

Been looking again over the past few weeks and looks like MEL to SCL has much greater availability - what’s likely to be the best approach to booking from sydney.

Should I look at booking the reward flight as SYD-MEL-SCL? Or paying for a one way ticket from SYD to MEL then a separate reward from MEL to SCL?

Thanks for your help, sorry I’m a newbie to this game :)

You should book SYD-MEL-SCL. That way, if your flight SYD-MEL is delayed or cancelled, it is up to QF to resolve the problem. If you are on a separate ticket then "problem bilong you".

Are you planning to do this as part of a 140k award or just a return flight to SCL?

In the perfect world I would, but I’m looking to go peak time (Mid dec) and given I am seeing limited availability now, I think I will take the first leg there that I see.. as I’ll have to wait for availability to open up on other legs within Sth America

No worries; you can add the other legs later by ringing up and paying a change fee of 5,000 points per person per change. I think there may also be an additional service fee for the telephone as you are in economy (not charged if you are in business). Others may be able to confirm.

Good luck.
