Have been trying to find out what would happen in the scenario of a successful J Classic Upgrade QF1 SIN-LHR if I misconnected onto this sector due to the late arrival of my connecting QF37 flight from MEL? Would I forfeit the points in this case during rebooking? All flights would be booked onto the same ticket.

No! If everything is on the one booking you are protected.

In the event they re-route you, and can’t do it in business, you’ll get back any points that you’ve used for the upgrade.

Thank you for clarifying! The Qantas website wasn't clear on what happens in this circumstance.
You can also push for them to reaccommodate on the next service with J available.
And hopefully claim flex Y ORC DSC as booked if the journey goes sideways (also connecting through LHR in this trip!)

My last QF1 flight from Syd-Lhr flight was delayed in Singapore for 4 hours. The reason was the QF37 flight was delayed out of Melbourne and apparently there was enough connecting passengers to make it worthwhile to hold the SIN-LHR leg.

So even if it is delayed, you may still be in luck!

Thank you for your responses, am pleased to say that my upgrade was successful, and even made the connection with enough time to enjoy the QR SIN lounge before my flight, with QF2 also delayed.

Cabin crew were surprisingly so good on both of the QF flights.

Cherry on top was being able to snag window J seats, which I've yet to be able to do for my J upgrades this whole year. Am thankful that I didn't have to entertain an IRROPs spanner in this journey!
