re: [closed for registration] 6 Points/$1 at Ðick Smith (over $50)

to 30 June 2011 ... that is pretty good :) :)

But don't forget:
"Partner participation is subject to change without notice.", and I'm sure Amex have other ways they could taketh away a promo should they feel like it...

re: [closed for registration] 6 Points/$1 at Ðick Smith (over $50)

Does anyone know when will the 5x bonus point offer ends? It doesn't say on Amex's site.

The DSE check out guy looked at me funny when I purchased some gift cards and then proceed to use those gift cards to pay for the goods. Oh well, the things you do for bonus points :D.

Why would you do that?

Unless I am missing something, all you have done us add an extra unnecessary step that wastes time, and gains no extra points.

ends June 30, 2011??

Interesting..I could have sworn that date was not in the T&C originally. Well I am not going to complain. ;)

Buying them $50 a time may have its advantages

Surely the purchase of the goods would have given you the bonus points? Although if you combine it with the HOP250 hopscotch promotion then you would get 250 bonus points for the puchase value between $20 and $50, then the 5x points kicks in after $50

uhzid
was speaking of buying Giftcards and then using them immediately though.

I could understand if he was partially using them where the purchase was less than $50, but if you use the lot?????

Wouldn't it be better to buy multiple $20 wish gift cards to claim the 250 bonus points each and use it to pay for whatever DSE product you are buying, rather than charging the purchase to Amex card for 5x points offer? A $100 purchase will give you 1250 bonus points under the hopscotch offer and 250 bonus points under the latter.

It would seem not:

Even better to get both.;)

It would seem that the DSE 5X bonus is only restricted by time, plus the min spend of $50.
Whereas the Hopscotch is restricted to 100 tx (which I have for example now reached) and time.

So unless you are going to struggle to get the 100 $20 tx by Dec 31, I would recommended having all DSE tx at $50 or more to maximise one's earn.

IIRC the HOP250 promo is limited to 100 transactions, and not available to Plat either
I just bought $2K (4x$500) worth of giftcards yesterday and today to shop with over the next two months at Woolworths which would have put me over the HOP250 limit if they had been $20 purchases. I instead scored the DSE 5x muliplier. Of course it now means carrying another 'card' around in the wallet to shop with.

re: [closed for registration] 6 Points/$1 at Ðick Smith (over $50)

Maybe I should buy 20 x $100 Wish Cards (in 20 separate transactions) from DSE with my AMEX.

So I would get: 10000 AMEX pts (5 points promo)
20 more 250 boni:5000 AMEX pts (Hopscotch promo)

..then I will have $2000 in gift cards that I MUST spend within a year:oops::p...I guess a visit to Dan Murphy could fix that very quickly:idea:

re: [closed for registration] 6 Points/$1 at Ðick Smith (over $50)

If combined with the Hopscotch promotion, there could be an advantage in chopping the transaction up.

Agree, which is why I said that too.....but he did not.

So I don't understand why he did what he did, if he did what he said, rather than what we both said. ;)

re: [closed for registration] 6 Points/$1 at Ðick Smith (over $50)

I'm a touch confused about the first line of the promo T&C: Limit 1 per customer.

Anyone have any idea what this means? Only 1 transaction allowed?

I think that is for the $20 off prmotion.

I think that's in relation to the on-line promotion. (I had a second glance as well; thinking the same at first, before I read on)
