re: [closed for registration] 6 Points/$1 at Ðick Smith (over $50)

ISTR some T&C's indicate this promotion is not valid at Dick Smith Franchises, so be careful.
How can you tell if a store is a Franchise?

Can anyone report if they have had any issues with the 2 stores in Brisbane City or the 2 stores in Indooroopilly?

P.S How come your post shows the D!ck while other posts show the ****?

No issues at CBD Queen St Mall, or CBD Elizabeth St. Points credit the next day with appropriate bonus.

Indooroopilly Moggil Road (Indrooropilly Shopping Centre) could have issues as the Amex will show up TANDY (even though it's been rebranded back to DSE).
Indooroopilly (Centro Shopping Centre) I believe has always been a DSE so shouldn't have issues.

Haven't tried either Indro store.

Make a $51 purchase (of something you need), don't unwrap it. If bonus point don't credit, take it back for a full refund and go to another store.

As far as Dick Smith goes, quote this post and you will see ... ;)

Thanks Mal. I shall try the Brisbane City stores for some variety to my shopping patterns.

You may find it hard to believe but there is nothing I need from Dick Smith.

Has that word been taken off the filter for a moderator? My post is still showing ****....

Can you get a refund on a gift card?

re: [closed for registration] 6 Points/$1 at Ðick Smith (over $50)

Not even a Wish card?
Yes but as you cannot return Wish cards and I do not want to waste them on test transactions.

Successful at one store so far and will try out the 2 stores in Brisbane City. Wish my parents could spend more at Woolworths but they are not likely to change their shopping patterns just for this promotion.

re: [closed for registration] 6 Points/$1 at Ðick Smith (over $50)

I've been trying to register online for the 5x promo but haven't been able to do so.

Can you still get the extra points without registering?

re: [closed for registration] 6 Points/$1 at Ðick Smith (over $50)

Very strange....there are 2 D ick Smith stores at my local shopping centre in Sydney. I have been making purchases;) at one and receiving the above 5x pts bonus, but on the w/e, I was nearer the other store, so I made a similar purchase there....just looked at my account tonight and noticed there was no 5x bonus:shock:. What gives? Looks like I can only make my purchases from one particular Dick Smith store to get the 5x bonus:?:
Went back to the first Dick Smith and made more purchases;)...5x bonus is posting again (within 24 hours). Guess I have to stick with this partic. store ...

I've been trying to register online for the 5x promo but haven't been able to do so.

No. You need to have registered successfully.

I registered as soon as I saw it, which was the day prior to starting.

If though it seemed to accept it, no confirmation was given.
I put through two test tx, and nothing showed and so I did the regsitration again, and this timea confirmation occurred.
The next tx showed the bonus.

I rang Amex and ask what gives and they explained that as the promo had not started yet, that the registration also did not work.

I politely complained and stated that was not acceptable, as if it did not work it should not pop up otherwise people could do what I did and think they were earning when they were not, and more so as the T&C state that points can take upto 10 weeks to occur.

so they lodge my compalint with my suggestion being that they should back date me the missing points.

Well that did not happen, but in the mail came an offer for a bonus point on all tx for 3 months..so I think that may have played a role;)

re: [closed for registration] 6 Points/$1 at Ðick Smith (over $50)

oh no forgot i registered for this promo...just went out and bought a plasma tv from harvey norman since their price was 50 dollars better than dsmith.... hmm anyway they are ment to deliver it in 5 days time together with a fridge i bought. I wonder if i could just cancel the tv...and buy it from dsmith instead..i guess the other option is to consider using the plat reserve purchase protection insurance..to get refund thru amex if hnorman wont budge
Any thoughts anyone ?

re: [closed for registration] 6 Points/$1 at Ðick Smith (over $50)

Is the price for the Tom Tom XL250 GPS any good?

Does it come pre-loaded with any maps or do I have to download them myself?

A Tom Tom GPS would normally come with maps installed. You do updates from your PC, which is a simple process.

I have no idea how the DSE prices compare for this unit.

Current prices for TomTom units are shown here. RRP is 219 AUD. DSE's standard price is 199 AUD. 149 AUD is a pretty good price for an older "thicker" widescreen TomTom.

Does it come pre-loaded with any maps or do I have to download them myself?

It will have an Australian map installed. This comes with 4 Bonus map updates for Australia. If you want to stay up to date (legally), you will need to buy the maps from Tomtom and download them via Tomtom HOME on a Windows PC. Likewise if you want maps for other countries.
