Re: Business class availability to europe

There are actually a large number of Star Alliance business class award seats available in Sep/Oct 08. Just because MNL can't/won't be helpful in identifying them doesn't mean they're not there.

I just did a quick check using dates 1/9 - 15/9 (quite at random) for MEL-LHR (note that flights ex SYD may be harder to get, also try BNE, ADL if you're serious). These flights were available:

9/1 (MO) TG980 Melbourne

Bangkok(BKK) 23:30
9/2 (TU) TG916 Bangkok(BKK)

London(LHR) 12:25

9/15 (MO) SQ321 London(LHR)

Singapore 22:15
9/16 (TU) SQ227 Singapore

Melbourne

If you want to check availability for yourself, have a look at:
ANA SKY WEB - ANA Mileage Club(Frequent Flyer Program)

Good luck!

Yes, but it's free and it will enable you to check all available Star Alliance award flight availability. Note, though, that UA may not provide access to all available seats.

But at least when you call MNL, you can provide a detailed itinerary for them to follow (it's the only way to get anywhere with the people in MNL).

For what it's worth, I just booked the following itinerary through MNL, after checking availability on the ANA website :

LAX-EWR-FRA-ATH-FRA-JFK...LGA-DEN-LAX (80,000 miles) all in first/business class.

Amazing what you can do with the ANA tool...
