[Cairns Airport chief executive officer Kevin Brown said] "The logical next step would be for Virgin to open a passenger lounge at Cairns airport."We are in negotiations with them on this addition and look forward to some exciting news in the near future.
"The $200 million domestic terminal redevelopment included space for passenger lounges to enable airlines to offer an enhanced the level of comfort to passengers."

I think if they opened a lounge up there CNS would definitely rocket to the top of my list for use of my comp upgrades on a J class ticket. Looking for a long domestic sector ex MEL and not hugely excited about taking the family to PER. :)

CNS would be the easiest to put a new lounge in, its got the room!

Not on the 737 though..... My flights down to BNE and back today have reminded me to be patient with the use of my comp. upgrades ;)

Well it's either Perth or its a 737. I think the 737 is the lesser evil there but i am definitely waiting until they roll out fleet wide J.

Exactly.

As I was boarding in CNS this morning, someone asked the FA when J is going in? The FA replied that he "thinks" it was mentioned that the 737's are being dropped from the route......

Well J is already being advertised for CNS routes but the introduction of A330 on it would surprise me... it surely isn't happening in time for me to use this year's PUCs (Platinum upgrade credits) on it.

I believe the cairns lounge will be open from 3rd quarter of 2012. I recently visited the space they will use it is lacks the Tarmac views that the QC has but it is twice the size! With 9-11 737 flights it will be hard to replace them with ejets. I heard about Virgin wanting to start a 2 weekly CBR-CNS on Friday and Sunday evenings?

To drop a 737 run to cairns makes little sense. Everytime I've been on one they have been full. Me-thinks that FA is the victim of rumour. No, really! Rumors on an airline never happens.

I didn't even give it too much thought until I saw this thread ;)
