Qantas Club Partner Membership - Guest Eligibility in Emirates Lounges (Help)

I am Gold FF travelling to Europe at end of year with my family. I've been through DXB several times and have had easy access to the Emirates lounges previously. This time I will have my wife and two adult sons. Have reviewed both the Qantas & Emirates websites for clarification as to how many guests I can get in - and it's pretty clear its only 1. HELP: Considering getting my wife Qantas Club membership (under the spouse membership option) - but there is conflicting information (or at best ambiguity) as to whether she is also eligible to invite one guest into Emirates lounge? Note: Travelling Emirates but all flights are Qantas Coded Flights.

As a general Qantas Club member (ie with no higher status) has anyone had trouble getting a guest into an Emirates lounge? Anyone had a family guest denied access as a Qantas Club member at an Emirates lounge? Key flights are: Dubai > Europe / Zurich > Dubai / Dubai > Australia.

As far as I know, a partner membership is treated as the same as a full membership, just with a reduced fee. In which case the 4 of you would have access.

It is a pretty expensive thing though - if just for this one access on the way through, you could guest one and purchase two 'day access passes'. Still not inexpensive at USD150pp (must join Skywards) but may be cheaper than a QP Partner membership.

Thanks ... I should have made the point that we have other family travel coming up next year and the Qantas Club math's makes it cost effective for us. Its more just the ambiguous Emirates Lounge access rules in both Dubai and Zurich I am trying to clarify.

There is no ambiguity - Dubai only and on QF marketed flight.

The ambiguity centers on the footnote to the 'Partner Lounge' access table which says that: Qantas Club members travelling on Emirates are entitled to lounge access on flights departing from Australia only. I've no idea what this sentence means? If I am flying DXB to Europe on an Emirates flight with QF codeshare .. is Qantas Club Member + Guest allowed to the lounge?

I read the footnote as a Qantas Club member can use an Emirates lounge departing Oz, but not the lounge in Dubai if travelling on?? As a Gold FF I've have never had to decipher this lounge access issue previously.

Indeed ... clear as mud. We have a 3-day stopover in Dubai, hence the 'same day' provision is unhelpful. On one reading of the Qantas website, it seems like it will be ok - but when you scratch the surface there are these quirky sub-rules and footnotes that are difficult to interpret. I don't want to spend the money if access for my wife and son is going to be denied. All in - or all out.

Surely can't be the only family in the world that has sought to fly from Dubai to Europe after a few days lay over and wanted to access the lounge. Keen to hear from any Qantas Club member (without status) and their experience.

I recall there are anecdotal posts on this forum that indicate access to Emirates lounges via Qantas Club membership is limited to business lounges in Dubai. Being WP, I have no experience. You will need to search.

UPDATE: I ended up contacting Emirates directly to confirm whether Qantas Club access would grant access to the holder of the membership and their guest and was told by the customer service agent that they were unsure and would need to escalate to a higher authority. The response came back that ACCESS DENIED.

I consequently wrote back and encouraged them to contact Qantas to have them update their website as it sort of suggested that access was indeed possible.

They then wrote back and said, actually, maybe I was right an access was indeed eligible.

I then wrote back and made the point that if Emirates is confused as to their own rules, what chance do I have?

Anyway - I now have in writing that a Qantas Club member travelling on Emirates on a QF ticketed flight can access their Business Lounge with a guest - travelling both Dubai to Europe & Dubai back to Australia.

Fingers crossed that this all works out.

The response came back that ACCESS DENIED.
