CNS Qantas Club Extension

Does not look like an extension but rather a rework of existing space.

Either they are really going to town on this, or this is a bit of an overkill for "we're right now rearranging some chairs, placing in a couple of desks with computers and play stations, oh and we'll also be placing a few toys around the place"

Edit: don't get me wrong, those family zones are a life saver when traveling with kids, but they are not really partition off whilst work is happening type area's I would have thought.

Hopefully there's no noise from construction? I'll be there in a couple of hours.

The kids sections normally have some sort of dividing wall you'd expect to block sound, but actually let's you see your spawn is okay so does nothing to block sound ;)

Don't want a fake wall though that will fall over on them...

Just spoke with the staff in the club, and they have confirmed that it is a full extension into the new area, children's play areas, PCs for kids, sound-reducing glass partition. I'm sure it will be a great benefit for the many families that holiday in CNS.

I'm sure others will find some other negative comment to counter this.

Well, here goes... the glossy white temp wall they've put up looks like something from a VA 'Lounge'. Very LCC attitude! Not befitting the matte finishes I expect from a full service carrier.

So the lounge floor area is actually growing into the empty area next door?

Thats good news, she does get crowded at times and it would have to be one of the more popular lounges for family use.

Perhaps a zone for loud talkers on mobile phones could be thrown in...

Yes, though I should temper my use of the word "full", it seems it will only be the front section, which seems to be about 7-8 metres wide, as in the photo.

I guess that's what they mean by "expanded" in the notice.

Very positive move. They could be taking advantage of having the building contractors onsite to improve the staff facilities in the landside area. I suspect this work may be the reason I saw a scissor-lift in the landside corridor, as I mentioned in the Virgin CNS Lounge thread just now.

...PCs for kids, sound-reducing glass partition...

On a more serious note, very interesting that the new SIN lounge will not provide PCs for long-haul business travellers, but domestically QF will fit lounges with PCs primarily for the use of children...

They do have such lounges in most of the Capital Cities. It's called the Business lounge!!!!

Probably reflective long haul business travellers travelling with their own PCs as opposed to kids travelling with their own PCs... Anything that keeps the noise generating snot machines* contained is a good thing in my mind...
