Some sites have minimum spend and that could be problem
Possibly, yes. I've had that happen on another site. But the error was clear that it was minimum payment that time. I have thought RE would have said if that was the error in lieu of "don't honour" but they may not have multiple reasons coded into their system and just use that.

I’ve had this with Red Energy on these cards.

Its a hard block by Red Energy.

Even a full $100 will be rejected.
Actually the two cards I subsequently paid the RE bill with were both Coles Mastercards.

I don’t think that is correct. I recently paid RE with $250 Coles Mastercards online version rather than the physical version.

i bought $100 Apple GC, receipt shows 38 bonus points. Will they automatically fix it or I have to call in?

Well I called and after I finally got a human she said they were aware of the problem and would give everyone their points by the end of the week.

I had a rejection of a $250 CGMC at Sydney Water last week
$500 Vanilla visa also rejected today also as a direct card payment. Worked when uploaded it to paypal though
You should not enter a MasterCard or Visa direct into Sydney Water web site payment gateway, because they add 0.4% fee. You should pay via PayPal instead, which does not attract any credit card fee.

The points posted - sort of. They gave me 1843 bonus points. The value of the gift card was included in the total spend, I can't remember if that is normal or not. Assuming it is, I got 1981 points. I don't want to deal with the hold and hassle to get a human on the phone so I am not going to chase the 19 points. But I think I will be buying my Apple GCs at Woolies from now on.
