Collection Plate on QF International Flight

Flying out of SYD tonight for OOL on QF I noticed a “collection plate” at my gate (Gate 6):

Another trip and some more charity box spottings at SYD T3. In particular, I notice that there are now Rotary Club donation boxes located throughout the terminal:


I also made an offering to the QF collection plate in the hopes that my disparagement of said plates are forgotten and all bad karma coming my way be cancelled :

What do you mean by "now" - haven't these specific ones been there for decades? It's possible they were removed or covered for a short time during Covid if the Rotary was unable to collect the money for a while, but they certainly aren't new.

Maybe you should use terminology such as, "this is the first time I've noticed" rather than implying something is new, especially since you have commented that you rarely fly internationally.
