Collection qantas status credit and points through oneworld flights

I have recently flown to uk with Qatar and I'm flying there again in january with Emirates, both with One world.
I have been told by qantas that I'm unable to receive and credits or points because my flights are with a certain subcategory.
Qantas websites says eligible for both credits and points but qantas won't offer anything.
It doesn't explain clearly about subcategory booking to receive anything.
I only found out by calling them.

Emirates is not part of oneWorld. They have a codeshare agreement with Qantas and SCs are only earned on flights booked with QF flight number.

Only the fare classes listed in the table for each airline will earn. On Qatar the fare classes for Economy Promo and Saver are not included, you need to book minimum Economy Value fare to get points and SCs. Qatar do display the fare class during the booking online.

Indeed they do - far more prominently than most (including our beloved Roo!). However I think there is still a general misconception that *any* flight with a oneWorld partner will attract SCs/Points.

A dummy booking on QR shows how easy it is to compare the booking class against the defarux highlighted and to conclude these flights would NOT attract SCs/Points courtesy of T class being excluded from that table:

Yesterday's ACCC report into loyalty schemes explicitly mentioned that passengers often don't realise they won't earn points when flying with partner airlines in certain booking classes, and that frequent flyer programs need to do more to educate consumers about this.

This is a prime example.

I spoke to qantas and mentioned it needs to be made clearer as people just presume which I did.
I also mentioned this to flight centre when I booked about what I wanted in regards to collecting points and credits,
They seem to be non the wiser either about it.

I get the impression that FC are typical of any formulated, franchise-type business: if the request doesn't fit the template then they are of little use. There are certain Travel Agents around who are very capable of putting together an itinerary to maximise SCs as well as provide the traditional "service" (PM me if you'd like a recommendation).

I suggest you do what most of us do: put this one down to experience and then devour these pages (and other sources) to learn the most you can as you need the specific information. Over time your knowledge will grow!! Be careful though ... once you walk down the path of airline-status it fast becomes a slippery slope of retention!!

They're not known as Fright Centre for a reason. Unfortunately often the agents do not know (or care about) the nuances of FF schemes (and in a way why should they?). A reminder that often the very cheap fares on partners can be difficult

and Emirates is its own special case unfortunately.

Yes it does pay to do your homework, and thankfully some AFF members assisted me in my search for flights with Malaysia airlines for inter Asia flights that earn status credits.

I recently booked flights with Malaysia airlines during their Business Class Sale, Manila>KL>Bangkok for a shopping trip and I wasn't the one doing the shopping, the flight was advertised as Z class and having been informed by an AFF member that it would be a earner I booked the flight, the fact that I had a 4 hour layover in KL didn't deter me, I also checked the QANTAS earn calculator and it showed Z class with Malaysia airlines as a earner.
I only arrived back yesterday, but to date I have been credited 140 status credits for the out leg and I reckon the return credits won't be long coming.
So fellow AFF members being a member of this forum has lots of advantages, especially when looking for a way to boost the status credits instead of doing the searches on the Qantas website looking for a bargain, or a way to boost status credits, that the members here are only too willing to share their knowledge.

By the way did I mention that members here gave me the good oil on the flights?

Now my Christmas wish is that there are no enhancements to the program next year.

On a side note and so I don't have to search for the thread, when I was leaving Sydney international last month I did not have priority card for the customs check, but I did mention to the young lady collecting the cards that I have dicky knees and cannot stand for too long, and she very happily waved me through.
In most countries in Asia they have priority queues for the elderly, so I wonder if that will ever happen in Australia.

Further to the subject, a CSM on Qantas revealed to me about the miracle flights that Qantas operate from some Asian countries, where you see the wheelchairs lined up at the gate boarding gate ready to embark first, then on arrival in Australia, they merrily walk off the aircraft, it is indeed a miracle!

Even when they do earn points and SC, there can be huge differences between earning rates. For example from AKL-LHR. On QR J (AKL-DOH-LHR)it seems to be 12400 points and 140SC. QF disc business (AKL-SYD-SIN-LHR) is 4360 points and 360SC.
QR have the Q suites and better champers, QF have the points. QR wont let you into first lounge in DOH unless you have F ticket, QF have the wonderful F lounge in AKL. And a proper F lounge in Sydney.

Whoops! Booked some JAL Explorer Pass tickets expecting them to credit under the “Economy” fare. Didn’t see the first column differentiating “Flights within Japan”.

To anyone with experience doing this in the past, if one were to upgrade JL Domestic on the day with the flat fee (JPY1K and 8K for J and F), would it count as “Discount Economy plus Premium/First Surcharge” on the table?

I recently flew Qatar Syd - BHX - SYD assuming I would get QFF award as there was a drop down box for my QFF #. When QF refused to credit me I retrospectively joined Qatar program and was credited air miles I think you have 30 days after your flight to apply to join to get credited

But that means you have to fly many more QR flights to amass enough QR points for an award/reward flight, eh?
