Gday,
I'm newbie to the forum. Lost my Status with UA few years back due to illness. Will be flying 4 times a year, maybe 5, Syd-ABE-Phx-Syd. I signed up for the Double DQM promotion. I dont mind UA, but are the 744 still oudated?
Other options: Qantas to JFK and will drive to ABE. Delta! Virgin! I'm thinking I have the options now to start fresh on a FF program! Would like to get to a level where i can upgrade quickly. Any Advise, Please!

With Velocity a return trip to the USA will pretty much get u to the silver level, esp if you fly PE.

Only prob with Velocity is getting rewards on non Virgin flights isn't easy and rather expensive in terms of points.

If Velocity and Delta get a close partnership then maybe not such a bad thing since ya flying to the USA on a regular basis.

I don't fly enough to worry about status so I go for the cheapest flying option - suppose that's cause i'm paying as well

Cheers Jeffrey!
is it 1 point/mile travelled! 20k to Silver; so if I do the run on the Syd-LAX
and codeshare the LAX to JFK on Delta, and then do the reverse that should give me the silver! how is the service and how are the PE seats?

On VAust it is the traditional mileage.

I flew their PE a couple of months ago and was VERY impressed with the service. For 2K return inc taxes it was worth the cost.

PE to LAX return nets u over 18500 points. If you can get points for other legs then you're set. 50000 points gets you to gold membership.

Something else to consider is the year that the various programs start / end.

Velocity is from April, QF is from August if memory serves me correct, so you might find your flying schedule doesn't get you to the status you hope for.

Some FF programs have a fixed anniversary date, i.e. Jan-Dec, for all members. Both Velocity and QFF have anniversaries related to the month you joined the FF program....
