No I am not high :p

Was wondering from Platinum one class does one come down one level each membership year?

As in if I dont fly at all will my membership level go from Plat one to bronze? or will I go Plat, Gold, Silver, Bronze over a four year period?

Cheers

Qantas does 'soft' landings so one level per year is the way it happens.

I guess you'll need to report back.

Qantas do have a "soft landing" as as long as one has the four eligible segments per "year", status goes from WP to SG to PS to NB.

I believe you still need the 4 segments though. If you don't, you go straight to the bottom.

(correct me if I'm mistaken)

IIRC there was a report here of someone who was WP then for medical reasons could not fly at all so every year there was a soft landing throughout each level eventually to bronze. So that would mean the 4 flight, or even 1 flight, rule would not apply.

Thing is would a P1 get a soft landing to WP or SG?

FWIW I hope they maintain your WP1 level for another year. It's a huge amount of flying & achieving it (even once) is deserving of some extra WP love.

Please report back when the date arrives.

When I failed to hit WP they dropped me from WPPG to WP:D

I guess you were 'comped' so this should be taken into consideration.

WPPG (2100 SCs') ≡ WP with a complimentary SG membership for someone at the same address and little more than that.

When I fail to hit WPPG this year (likly to earn on 2005 SC's) I'd expect to remain WP.

But if the person was not flying at all, there would have been no benefit in the soft landing anyway ......

There would be an advantage in soft landing if they decide to fly in the following year. Of course, if they never fly again, no advantage. I guess the reason for soft landings is to keep you interested.

Correct, however the point is that there is anecdotal evidence testing the theory and showing that the 4 flight minimum for qualification does not apply to get a soft landing.

When my father stopped being a WP after about a decade on that level he was kept on WP for two years as a "thank you" then two years on SG and a year on PS and finally now NB.

A few years ago i fell from gold to silver, with no flights in that period. Got the letter from Qantas asking about my futur travel plans, but seeing as i was unlikely to travel with them soon I did not reply. Quite surprised when I was silver, I even got an opup on the one BA flight I took in that period.r
