CommBank CC "I'm going to cancel" thread

Called to cancel my Diamond Awards card that I have held since 2009, wasn't offered anything. They reminded me that I was offered it as a free upgrade so was essentially paying the Gold card rate on it, but nothing else otherwise.

No fuss from me as I had no intention of maintaining it!

A small tip for those considering cancelling this card. I cancelled a month ago with the intention of transferring my remaining balance of awards points to Velocity. I was denied this on the basis that they won't transfer points from a closed card to a Frequent Flyer program. I was directed to the terms and conditions.

I have read the T&Cs and haven't found anything to suggest my request is not possible.

I'll keep you posted.

Escalte your issue to the supervisor, you will have 3 months to use all of your points after you close your account, and I did that once before, no issues at all when I requested to transfer points to the velocity.

Just went and cancelled my Plat Awards card which I've held since ~2009 - offered nothing to hang around. Didn't expect anything though!

Second time lucky. Was able to transfer my remaining points to Velocity although they tried very hard to get me to take them as gift cards.

Had the diamond for about 7 years, Cancelled earilier this year and offered nothing, said i was paying platinum rates which is reduced. left and and went to NAB

Finally free.
Started banking with CBA when I was 7 at school, got a Bank Card in the early 70's, had house loans & various others. For me they became very impersonable when they started closing branches & they wanted the loyalty to be only one way.
Spent 20 minutes on hold this morning wanting to cancel the last card so gave up & drove to a branch only to be told "well you can't do it now unless you have suitable identification". I smiled as I pulled my passport out of my top pocket.

Does anybody know the best way to csncel your card in terms of ppints .

Do points disappear upon cancelling the card?

I've called twice and asked for fee waiver and both declined.

I've had a cba credit card since 18 yrs old. It will be sad to go

I think you got 30 or 60 days to use up all your points. But you need to call the CBA rewards desk to use it, u cant just log into commbank. If I were you, if its easier, might use up the points before you cancel the card

Thanks
IIdontI I have many pts but itsi still hard workw

Thoght id give threatening to cancel another shot.
Todays polite lady offered a reduction from 249 to 199 plus 4k qantas points which i declined.

She gave me the option of platinum but can waive the fee for 12 months which i took.

This is just a backup card that i was wanting to use for international fee free purchases

Anyone had any luck recently? Apparently CBA are saying there's a blanket no offers available any more "since the Royal Commission". My last successful go at this was Dec 2018 (last year, around the time the changes were being introduced).

It's the travel insurance that makes the card valuable for me, but not at RRP.
