Surely I'm not the only who who eats in the J Lounge, and possibly an apple on board?

I have had a few afternoon flights recently so eat in the lounge (if it isn't the chicken black bean) and then just drink on board and try to avoid the olives in the lavosh snacks.

I rarely fly between 6PM and 8PM - though this week I have a 7PM flight so might get to try island dining in MEL>

I'll even prefer the salads prior to the Island dining to anything that's served on board (in whY)

An option for SYD-OOL, although less an option the other direction (notwithstanding the vouchers that were given out at OOL)

Not sure about weekday flights as you said, but QF865 was a dinner service last night (Sunday).

It was stir fried beef with hokkien noodles.

As was the meal on the delayed QF465 from SYD-MEL that I boarded very shortly after leaving QF865. And I ate it too.

I did the QF860/QF861 inaugural flight yesterday and both were refreshment flights, we got the same old coughpy pre-cooked rock solid frozen Scone jam/cream that we always seem to get on MEL-SYD refreshment flights.

Not sure why more people don't do it, but I always request the fruit platter! Best option ever for snack service flights!

Same. Although not all snack services are equal and the FP isn't available on all refreshment flight services.. have an upcoming booking that specifically says that in MMB for a particular sector.

It is certainly available SYD-OOL, I changed my return sector and neglected to request a fruit platter for the new service so cannot comment on its availability OOL-SYD

I flew QF865 and we were served a dinner service. Barley beef with potato. I was chatting with the crew toward the end and indicated my surprise at being served a dinner when the schedule listed Refreshment and they suggested it may have been based on a 18:40 departure time as at Sydney time. Who knows really, but I was glad for the meal all the same.

Not being a City-Flyer service, the lack of free alcohol surprised/disappointed some of the pax around me. Fortunate for me, I was provided with a discreet "welcome back Mr Smith" drink when I ordered the red wine ;).

Here I was naively thinking that my flight on Friday, QF865 17:40-20:00 would actually have a meal. But I was wrong. I'm sure my kids will be super excited to be given three dry crackers and a tub of grainy paste.

I remember when QF used to serve actual meals ...

Don't worry, I'll load them up with lollies when you drop Hamish off ;) ;)

I swear I didn't see this today, went through security around 1130, must be going blind!

Probably best not to say that too loud considering future line of work ;)

What a joke. How about express security in Adelaide. Some self moderation in the following: joking joke joke jokers!!!

Hi all,

Yesterday's QF862 which was a scheduled 'refreshment' actually served a hot butter chicken with roast pumpkin wrap in economy:

In business on QF863 the scheduled lunch service I also had another lunch.... in business it was a choice of beef and black bean or a feta and spinach stuffed chicken breast with a cacciatore pasta thing on the side. taste was good.

Qantas offer a $25 voucher to business class passengers (I don't know if this applies to GOLD/PLAT in economy) for use at airport eateries before the flight in lieu of the lounge being open.

cheers

QF865 tonight, scheduled as a refreshment service.

Instead we were served (in whY) a hot meal (creamy chicken and macadamia curry). It was ok, a bit boring but much better than 2 crackers and some paste. Bummer that they wanted to charge for alcohol, especially when they left the J cart parked half into ecomony for 20 minutes with a lovely Mclaren Vale Shiraz bottle sitting staring me in the face.

No sign of the express security either, although I actually forgot to look for it ...

For the record, this was my first flight as a P1, and I received absolutely no special treatment at all. No pre-take off drink, no welcome, no free booze. Oh well, can't say I'm super surprised ...
