it's a win win for them when people decline the cakes - they can load less and save money whilst still crowing over the 'meal servce'
Not sure about weekday flights as you said, but QF865 was a dinner service last night (Sunday).
It was stir fried beef with hokkien noodles.
I did the QF860/QF861 inaugural flight yesterday and both were refreshment flights, we got the same old coughpy pre-cooked rock solid frozen Scone jam/cream that we always seem to get on MEL-SYD refreshment flights.

This.
I don't call 3 postage-stamp size squares of lavosh and a tiny tub of dip a meal!
Not sure why more people don't do it, but I always request the fruit platter! Best option ever for snack service flights!
Same. Although not all snack services are equal and the FP isn't available on all refreshment flight services.. have an upcoming booking that specifically says that in MMB for a particular sector.

I swear I didn't see this today, went through security around 1130, must be going blind!
Here I was naively thinking that my flight on Friday, QF865 17:40-20:00 would actually have a meal. But I was wrong. I'm sure my kids will be super excited to be given three dry crackers and a tub of grainy paste.
I remember when QF used to serve actual meals ...
